I would like Amibay to keep a simple design. I often browse the forum with my Amiga (AGA or RTG) and enjoy the full IBrowse compatibility so far.
If it is the retrocomputer trading post, keep it retrocompatible.
No need for fancy html thingies.

Let me second this BIG time. I often access Amibay from my various mobile devices and it always makes me happy how clean and fast the front page (and in fact the rest of the site) is. The last thing we need is some fancy frontpage etc..

Over the years several of my favorite sites on the net 'upgraded' themselves, and I hated the new design every single time. Call me conservative but I like pages where the space is well used, as opposed to some 'great look' where buttons take up half a page and everything is pulled apart.

Amen to that. The thing I like about AmiBay (and the thing I wish so many other websites would learn) is that by and large the dev team knows how to leave well enough alone. Things are fine as they are.

Oh, hello, did you say you'd like an HD-video flash-enabled frontpage? Excuse me, I'll be right back with that for you!

On the panel in the top right corner could we please have a Mark Forums Read button (instead or as well as the QuickLinks) ??

Couple of things i've been thinking about: -

Group Notifications - I always forget about my groups because I have to manually check them for new comments.

More categories in the Sales area - I think its time we had "Sega" "Nintendo" "SNK" "NEC" "Sony" "Microsoft" "PC" and maybe some more? Having all these under "other" is a bit cluttered.

I don't use the groups, but it occurs to me that this might be useful. Harrison should be able to advise best on that one...

I definitely think this is true. We do need to have a bit of a re-think about what sales categories should be available.

group notifications were dropped because someone moaned it was pointless, i disagreed but was told to "go check the group" i think it was chain that complained but i can't really remember

Gets the worms ready with the bazookas, realises it's a joke, disarms.:blased:

With a dedicated "Microsoft" "PC" section I think you would invite a world of pain for the admins, unless you want all the China resellers lisiting. All the others are for the most part collectables now, so would attract like minded people with the same kind of respect for the retro equipment.

I would suggest small steps and see what happens.

I want a chat room where you can chat with other Amibay users and a ability to post youtube videos in the chat too

I was going to say we have an IRC channel (unofficial) but then you said you wanted to spam youtube vids.. those are some links I could do without.

@andy LOL

tbh: If it works, don't fix it. :-)
and it seems to work, doesn't it ?

You mean that one listed in your signature?

But go easy on the YouTube spam! :p

I'd like a 'Discrete-mode' setting for Amibay that removes the colours and graphics.

Images in threads are okay, but should be converted to greyscale.

Why? So I can continue to view Amibay at work

I fear we don't have a suitable gender ratio

How about enforcing one? It might sound crazy, but it might be pioneering.
