Amiga 1000 (base unit, keyboard, mouse) + 1.5MB Spirit InBoard

I've been accumulating Amiga 1000s over the last 4 years. They all had issues and missing parts which I've fixed or replaced over time. I've kept one for myself (now with a GB A1000 motherboard) but now it's time to pass the others along to someone else.

Amiga 1000 S/N: XM4118413

This Amiga was in fair condition when I got it, I retrobrighted the case and it's now in very good to excellent condition. There is some very slight discolouration to the front panel and the base of the keyboard, barely noticeable, but the rest of the plastics look clean and bright. The plastics are all original and haven't been sprayed. The keyboard has been repaired - a replacement NE556 timer, capacitors and a keyswitch. All the keys have been cleaned, all keys work and there are no broken or glued keycaps. It has the additional 256k RAM module in the front slot. It also has a Spirit Inboard 1000 fitted, fully populated with 1.5MB RAM. The total RAM onboard is 2MB. The Spirit Inboard had a couple of broken pins so I've fitted new SIL turned-pin headers onto the existing pins so it sits a little higher than usual in the case. It is still stable and well supported inside the case. This is a PAL 240v model.

Bad points : The tank mouse isn't the "correct" Amiga 1000 mouse with the right-angled plug. There are a couple of scratches on the top of the case consistent with normal use (probably a monitor on the case).

I've included a video of the system booting up.

Asking price is £300 plus PayPal fees and postage.

Fully packed, the box weighs just under 10Kg and is approximately 60cm x 50cm x 40cm.
I can quote for postage with and without insurance. Insurance is mandatory if a PayPal non-Gift payment is made, otherwise optional but recommended. No claims for damage in transit will be accepted unless insurance cover is purchased.

What's included: Amiga 1000 base unit with additional 256k RAM module and Spirit Insider board with 1.5MB, keyboard, keyboard cable, mouse. No Kickstart or Workbench disks as I don't have originals only copies, so I can't sell them with the machine.

I will give Stefan-AT first refusal as he was second in line on my last Amiga 1000 sale thread. Then Jameson as he has a wanted thread open. If neither want it or hasn't responded in 24 hours I'll move to next in line in this thread.

Oh, and I'll be away from 28th April until 18th May so any deal done will either need to completed by then or will have to wait until my return.

Declaring interesed, next in line, pending some questions: what is shipping cost insured/not insured to Poland? Also, is it not sprayed - "Commodore" logo is missing :-)? Not that I like this C=, A1000 actually looks nicer without it, it kind of does not fit there, but just checking :-).

3rd in line, as above

Shipping is £30.53 with insurance.
*edit: £16.47 without insurance

Good point about the Commodore logo - not sure why it's not there, but it hasn't been painted over.

Looks like US (NTSC) front panel.

And it has a US layout keyboard.

Did they ever have a UK keyboard layout (without the key stickers) ? I've had 4 in total, all with the same keyboard layout.

Or not a UK machine, or it just didn't have a logo. Seems a bit hit-and-miss anyway: http://amigalounge.com/b2.html

I read the listing more carefully and saw "This is a PAL 240v model." so I guess it can't be a US machine :) I thought I had mastered reading comprehension in 2nd grade :)

So does that make it a UK machine even with the US layout? Any other country would have the letters in different arrangements like "AZERTY" right so UK would be the only other choice? Would Australia or Brazil use a US layout?

As buyer, and as I've never had one before, last days I was searching for many topics like how to expand A1000 etc., and came acrross also to info, that the PAL models by default had no daughter board (and on picture we can see this one does not). Same sources say only the initial PAL machines had daughterboard like NTSC ones.

As for keyboard - for example in my country, for computers (it was different with typewriters ;-) ) we default to US keyboard layout, and have special letters with accents available under right alt+letter key. So for example I remember that back in the day we had Amigas in shops on streets, we'd have mostly US layout, and only from time to time you could see UK or German qwertz machine.

For this machine, maybe it came without the logo and this keyboard; or, front panel was broken and someone replaced it with parts he had from US machine, and maybe on the many years keyboard could also be broken and replaced ;-).

Anyhow, I do not mind not having "C= Commodore" logo; its colours and placement are unfortunate, I prefer case without it - and I am happy it is US layout keyboard, DE/UK layout would constantly confuse me while typing :).

I've had 4 Amiga 1000s, all PAL 240v - 2 have had daughterboards, 2 haven't. Same with the Commodore logo on the front panel. There doesn't seem to be any obvious pattern to it.

Most likely. These machines are pretty old now and may well be a combination of parts kicking around in someone's shed. I deliberately checked the Agnus version on this (and other) machines since there's no guarantee the board hasn't been swapped with an NTSC one at some point. This one is definitely PAL!

Payment received from APair (many thanks), collection booked for tomorrow. Will update thread when it's on its way.

Oops, forgot to update thread .. parcel was collected 22nd April, on its way now.

Hi there, sorry for long time to respond - machine received, had small problem with the mentioned fixed pins on the Iboard - but I managed to fix it easily following advices from Bootsie :-). Machine looks great and gives a lot of fun, and is very nicely restored and cleaned by Bootsie - good job :-).

A few issues with delivery causing the RAM board to dislodge and bend pins :( but APair very understanding about it.
Feedback left both ways, thread can be closed, thanks.
