Amiga 1000 pulled out of storage

Hello, I am Greg from Huntsville, Alabama, USA. I had an original Amiga 1000 from 1985 that my parents purchased for me in 1985 while I was in High School. I used it many years until the mid-nineties when I jumped ship to PCs. That machine is long-gone now.

I recently pulled out another A1000 from storage that was given to me about ten years ago. I has a Microbotics Starboard II and a SupraDrive 4x4 adapter.

I want to clean it up, recap, install a ROM board, and a SCSI to SD card adapter.

I have already purchased a SCART to HDMI adapter to use with a modern flat panel. I also purchased an A2000 keyboard adapter because that's the only keyboard I have.

I will be retrobrighting too, it is somewhat yellow now.

I have zero disks. I do have purchased Amiga OS 3.9, and Amiga Forever licenses.

What would be the best path forward for this machine? Opinions?

Ah, yes. Our beloved Amiga 1000.

For starters, you could build yourself a D.I.Y kickstart switch / relocator and then wait for the TF534 (the TF530 is too little RAM for the A1000 to be useful.) @DJCook can produce both of those for you on this forum. The only drawback to this combination is that you'll still be limited to 512k chip RAM.

If the Rejuvenator project comes to fruition, it will definitely be a must have - but then you must consider which of the available accelerators will actually fit alongside it.

Note that Kipper2k is currently developing mechanical keyboard circuits and boards for most Amiga models, and has found a source for matching keycaps. It would probably not be a bad idea to find an Amiga 1000 keyboard, no matter what condition for a potential conversion in the future.

Thanks for the response. I built a kickstart/CPU relocator last night in fact. And I put my name on the thread for a TK 68030 4MB. Now, what do I do for USB and LAN?

There are no sensible solutions to USB/LAN on an A1000 that I'm aware of. If you instead opt for the TF534, it will have an SPI port that should get support for cheap Arduino LAN adapters at some point. I don't believe you will have this option with a TK.

Welcome. Indeed an A1000 is a nice piece of history, but if you want to get a little bit more serious about your Amiga, in other words to do something more today, then an expanded A1200 or A4000 should be your plans for the future.
