In case you haven’t already seen it, you can use a Chinon FB-354 as found in A500s and solder some wires and a resistor to the PCB for the LED. The downsides I found to this are 1. Things like the Spirit RAM expansions no longer fit due to the Chinon drives being longer than the originals, and 2. In my case the drive carrier mechanism fouled the front panel of the 1000 so a round file was needed to extend the mounting holes in the drive cage backwards by a couple of mm.

Microswitches fail due dust/corrosion inside If the mechanism moves correctly and disk comes down hard.
if it comes down sticky, everything must be cleaned of dried grease.

It is a jewelry job to clean these microswitches internally but it can be done with patience.

The small copper contacts are covered with a thin layer of non-conductive oxide.
One option to try is to apply contact cleaner that penetrates inside the microswitch and press it repeatedly with a small screwdriver.
It usually stays perfect.
🥳

I have not said anything, the A1000 drives usually have reed relays.
in that case replace the ampoules, For the same reason I said before, internal rust, but this cannot be cleaned.
