Hey all i was wondering if there is any compatibility in 1200 cards and other systems like A600 , A500 or so.I am searching and i cant find anything.

Anyone brave ever did this ?

Thanks

If you buy an ACA500 upgrade for the A500 you can attach another ACA12xx or i believe some 68030/40/60 cards to it and make your A500 FLY :)

Yes i saw that solution....Nice for the good old A500 but i was more interested in the A600 system :) Thx anyhow for your input :)

I'm certainly not an expert but I think all A600 accelerators sit on the 68k chip. And as that is the the SMD type, and no other Amiga has a SMD 68000, then the answer is no

Currently there's NO way of getting any cars designed for the 1200 to work on the 600. Certainly not the ones designed for the edge connector under the "trapdoor" (visa-versa). However some clockport stuff works on the A604 expension I hear. Whether it is possible I have no idea but if it is, I can't imagine the solution with be tidy or fesable for that matter.

Yea you are right the clockport works on the A604.If it is done for the A500 there might be a way if someone builds a card like that for the A600.
On the other hand the space is limited on the system so it should be tricky to do.Might be the only reason something like that was never build....

You are right, A600 does not have any CPU slot like A1200 and all turboboards must sit on the Motorola 68000 chip. Because A600 has ECS chipset for gaming you dont need fast CPU like for AGA machines where 030 looks like optimal. So you can find just Fast RAM boards, 68020 boards and the top are 68030 boards (LIST of A600 accelerators). However having A600 equiped with at least fast RAM or some 68020 CPU is way better then stock A600. I have 68020 clocked at 33 MHz + 9,5 MH RAM and this is absolutely enough for any oldschool WHDload gaming.

Arguably it is possible to build an internal interface for the A600 - however size constraints make this infeasible for a desktop solution.

I think that even the 020 on the Amiga 600 is to much.

Before starting to consider an accelerator i was using the A608 8mb fast ram board an i think that 1 extra mb of chip ram is also a must on the A600.You can play some AGA games as well with 2mb chip ram on esc they also work on the A500 as well.So having a fast processor like you say and lucking a better chip set witch might utilise it is just not practical.

There are some apps that will require 020 to run like iGames but again is it worth in on the A600 ? I think not :D

So in my mind and wallet the best A600 setup = 3.1 rom , 8mb fast ram , 2mb chip ram and a nice CF disk > ESC optional ( This way you can play 98% of Amiga games on WHDLoad ) and the system will be stable 100%

Are A1200 accelerators worth the trouble ? i think ill get an A1200 in the near future....

I do hope that they make another batch of these Furia's again soon!

I will say that for cost effectiveness the ACA620 is a delightful beast, sporting over 9MB of RAM and a 17Mhz 020 is quite a treat indeed. For other options available to the A600, at the budget end there is not much difference in price compared to the massive leap of 6 times performance!

The 020 grants a much nippier time in workbench as well as the ability to use some productivity in a meaningful manner, such as Octamed Sound Studio / DPaint / PPaint. In fact it makes a really nice system to develop for, but thats just me ;)
