Hey everybody

The last couple of years I had several amiga related projects.

My 600, CDTV, 4000D with GREX PCI busboard, all where a lot of fun to build. The whole fun was in completing each project and not actually using this every day though.

I had to make a new project that would keep as my main amiga.
The first amiga I had was a 500 but a 1200 is the best choice from my point of view when it comes to WHDLoad and expandibility.

I decided to make one equipped with a 030 accelerator as this is the best when it comes to value for money

This is an amiga to keep so I tried to find boxed and in mind condition parts.

Here is the result.

Boxed amiga 1200 brand new and unused! When I first got this and unboxed it at my house i felt like I was a kid and it was christmas
This is the version with scala and HD installed.

Time for WHDLoad...!

Well a Blizzard 1230 and ClassicWB might be a killer combo that can give you many hours of fun. But looking at an RTG screen from the big box amigas and then back to plain old 1200 AGA can be really sad. :(

So I decided to pimp it a little more :)

Ratte AutoSwitch AGA<->RTG. The simplest but most important part for a usable RTG/AGA system. The best money I have spent for this 1200. Thanks Andre!

The first thing I need to change is the VGA header's oriantation as it has some problems with the Bvision card.

And change the oriantation to a new angle.

No problem there any longer with the BVision and SD :)

Thanks for looking!

You give meaning to words enthusiast (1) and large guy (2).
In Greek it has a totally different meaning saying these two words in bold.

Bravo, well done!!!

Thanks mate

have you tried the memory yet? im a bit worried as there 3.3 volt and im sure there supposed to be 5 volt parts used in amigas.

I have tried the memory with ClassicWB and AmigaOS 4.1 for classics...

Really fantastic, something to ask the elf's to bring me for Christmas... ( I just gave them your address) lol.
It really takes passion, με;ράκι, as we say in Greek.

Cheers

Nice job! reminds me of good times modding my A1200 :)

Thanks but your 1200 is simply the best 1200 handsdown. It's in a totally different level of awesomeness.

Thanks for the kind words :)

You have alot of the parts I started with, which is what reminded me of those days :) especially the APower, good job on getting that one, its an awesome PSU. I would recommend you recase it though, it gets really hot when running the power hungry BPPC+BVPPC combo. since putting mine in a standard PSU shell, not only does it look "authentic" but its got enough room for a slow moving fan on it that works wonders. I often get folks double taking and saying "You're powering all this from a standard PSU!!!???" I sometimes say "yeah sure" to see further surprise, then wait a few seconds and admit that its of course not! :D

Another few recommendations are to get some internal fans blowing over that BVPPC and some heatsinks on the Permedia at least. I've found that case mounted fans drawing cool air in from outside are more efficient than mounting fans directly on the BV (although I do have some as an option for if i'm running the system in top off show off mode :D ). But overall use the sealed case to draw the air through the system and out of the BPPC fan to create the best for cooling. My system actually runs cooler with a closed, screwed down, case as it forms a kind of channel for air over the vitally hot parts.

Lastly, either leave the trapdoor off, or better still get a second hand one you can cut and then you can still support the BPPC accelerator properly and let the chips breathe. :)

Looking forward to seeing what other stuff you add, I think a subway would be a nice addition next ;)

Its nice to see another pimped up A1200, its such a fun (and challenging) machine to mod :)

Hehe, you could not help it. could you;)

This looks very nice

liked the adapter that allow you to keep the iny and rtg

looks great, nice and clean, congratulations

I have a little bit of work to do, I can tell.

Nice start... hehe

So, with these 128MB memories, you can close your trapdoor without any issue ?
