Hi guys
Thanks to everyone who is going ahead with the commodore gaming backplates. I am happy to go ahead but can you confirm that it will definately fit. I asked Ed about creating one for me and he did state that there was an issue in terms of holding the plate in place. Could that issue be resolved as well?
I actually have two commodore gaming pc'c. One of them houses my main desktop pc and one is empty ready for an 1200 transplant.

2)No is not possible.. better is to buy it unpainted ... make the extra holes that you need ... and then coated as with color that you want....

The small holes in the plate is like ED's project (logical fit perfect in the case, i don't have one for test) but is not plug n' play...
You need to do some work..Ed point some problem's like case cut in corner of the case

If I may just add some input to help out.
There is no issue adding the plate to the commodore gaming case if you first remove the old one, just use rivets. The issue I had(have) is securing the outer case panels to the new plate once it's been installed because there are no tapped threads in the plate. I have found a way of adding the threads back into the plate and that's using something called rivnuts or nutserts. To use the existing screws you'd need to find a supplier of 6/32 UNC rivnuts and install them into the back-plate using the correct drill size. I did find one supplier but they wanted about £7.50 for 10. Metric nuserts are available on Ebay but you'd then need to use metric screws to fasten the case panels.
I remember somebody suggested they did a similar mod and instead of removing the old plate they cut the middle section out to leave behind the edge and all the fixings.

The case I have on order is not quite near the one in the photo, but having modded sheet metal cases in the past, using M3 screws with a locking nut gives a better, stronger junction than an Aluminium rivet and is more versatile. The new backplate (aluminium) and the edges of the new case (back removed -- easy to drill out rivets) should approximate enough to give a reasonable fit and finish; now making a proper PCI backplane holder will take much longer.

Anybody have any cases they recommend? Hard finding something that is 43 x 18 :-/ Some are close.

No cases in my shed, or at the recycling dumpster fit. I am looking to build a desktop open frame case. I was originally thinking about buying a QDIY PC-JMK8, but now I think I will get my brother to weld a bottom plate to the backplate to create an L shape. I am looking for at lightweight ATX psu's now, so the backplate can support it without extra reinforcement.
If a good case shows up, I might go for it as long as it has a window to show of all the exotic hardware - so please post.
