Recently I have soldered an Amiga 2000 reproduction board by Floppie209. Unfortunately, I have had difficulty sourcing a case for it. Eventually, I found something on eBay, although in poor condition (broken mounting poles in front bezel and drilled holes with toggle switches installed).

I decided to create my own case using original measurements. To test the fit, I used a second, unpopulated board. I made a mounting bracket for Zorro cards, which I will have to correct in some ways (expand the groove which boards lean against and think of an appropriate insulation material), however I don't think this is necessary for the A2000, except for transportation.

I intended to use a scandoubler, the PCB of which you can see, which I also created a rear bracket for. I heard that PAL is not ideal, NTSC runs comparably better - does anyone have an opinion on this topic?

I have, to the best of my ability, tried to make the case as similar to the original as possible. Unfortunately, I do not know how long it will take me to finish this project (I would like to first populate the case how I want).

I am VERY impressed with this!

Any idea the timescale and price/availability when finished?

EDIT: Jumping the gun but an A4000D one is needed! those machines suffer badly more so with the terrible front
panel design.

I can not produce many of them. This is my hobby work after "day job". Price would be in region of £220 plus postage £30 within the UK. If someone is seriously interested I will open thread in "Hardware for sale/Amiga".

I am working on something for A4000D, but it will take couple months to finish it (limited time), bit more complicated for me due to vertical daughterboard.

I noticed you have since made a high quality replica A4000 case. Any plans to make a replica A2000 case?

This looks cool but needs a few finishing touches. Like it would be nice to see an optional rear plate for a small ATX power supply, would be nice only to see the cutouts for the A2000 on the back. Slot fillers on the back for the cards (so the spaces between the cards stead of an open space), and a cutout on top with plexiglass so show the inidsides and allow the A2000 owners to decide if they want to stand their Amiga upgright. :)

Optionally I would offer two case styles, one with flopply, gotek and CD ROM the way I see in these pictures, and secondly for those who want to use the case as a towers case to invert the drives so if you stand the case upgright the drives aren't on their sites.

This is something I would buy, it looks better than the first one. The open back where the slots would go I could live with I guess. :)
I do not have plans to do any radical changes to the design. I may remove front custom cutout and do cutout on the top similar as inA4000D.
At this moment I am busy with A4000D and A3000D. Those are my hobby projects and I am doing it in my spare time.
I hope you can wait . Possibly I can do just one case but it is not economical and would cost way more than my A4000D case.
Also P&P to Canada will exceed 100GBP I am afraid plus custom charges.

Hey Arymanx,

Don't worry about the shipping cost or custom charges on my or anyone else who lives in North America who is interested. I bought a Dickie Fat Olga (sp?) board which came from Germany and have a Z9000 coming next for my A2000, shipping is crazy these days but worth it.

Keep me in mind if you plan to do something for the A2000 case wise. There are a lot of A2000 systems around, not sure if there are more A3000 or 4k systems tho. I don't see a lot for sale on ebay.ca when I do look.

Thanks,
