I'm sure the title got your attention.....
Specs (the good news)
Amiga 4000 desktop
Cyberstorm 68060 @50Mhz / PPC 604e @233Mhz / 128Mb RAM
2Mb Chip + 16Mb Fast RAM
256MB ZorRam
Mediator 4000Di
Voodoo3 2000
Spider compatible USB
RTL8029 Realtek 10Mbps
52xCDROM (NEW...just out of box....short length to fit the case!)
880k FDD (NEW from AmigaKit)
Front USB port x 2 and multicard reader, 2 more USB ports at the rear
9.2GB Ultra2 SCSI HDD (real)
4GB CF card (IDE)
Kickstart 3.1 (NEW from AmigaKit)
Original OS4.1 Classic installed
CWB3.9 installed for test purposes
The bad news....
The Mediator can be a bit picky with the Voodoo card. Sometimes it doesn't detect the card, more so in OS4.1 than OS3.9. When it is working it seems rock solid. The USB on this Mediator will only run in USB1.1 mode, and as far as I know it is only compatible with OS3.x. No known issues with the network card.
The USB works fine in 2.0 mode on my towerised A4k with Mediator, as does the total 3 Voodoo cards I have here....so something to do with this Mediator....but once its all running, it doesn't stop. Cold boots generally rectify the Voodoo issue (sometimes a couple of could boots)
The Cyberstorm has had some repairs to the 68060 socket as there was frequent instability. The instability is gone, but I would suggest this is not a good candidate for a 68060 upgrade. It is still the original 060, and the PPC is original.
Other than the above, all the basic stuff seems to work fine. The system on boot asks to boot into OS3.9 or 4.1. The SCSI HDD and CF work normally, as does the CDROM drive and the floppy drive (both the latter being new). The usual WHDLoad demos work. Sound works fine. The AGA chipset works normally. In OS4.1, internet via the network card seems to work OK, with most of the on-line OS4.1 updates done. I have had Freespace running briefly under OS3.9, however I didn't get it running optimally (I didn't do any configuration etc). It has run Doom fine too (I cant recall if I ran i on AGA or RTG).
The mainboard looks to be in good condition visually, however the previous owner for some reason removed the Bank 3, and replaced Bank 4. There is a new barrel battery, which keeps time OK. There appears to be very little damage around the battery and no damage from leaked caps that I noted (certainly no green stuff that I saw!). The case is in very good condition internally with 1 tiny rust spot, but otherwise corrosion free. The original power supply seems to cope with the power requirements, other than the normal and occasional software gremlins, the system seems quite stable.
If there is an eventual buyer of the complete system, I would suggest they consider some additional cooling. The PPC, 060 and Voodoo chips have a cooling heatsink and fan each, there is a fan I installed behind the ZorRAM pushing air towards the rear of the case, the case gets warm but has run for hours on end without issues. Had I kept it longer I would have used a better solution.
I am asking alot of money for this system, and certainly it owes me alot more than what I am asking. Realistic or not Ill let the reader judge. I will be listing this on the other bay soon, but will advise when I do. I encourage any reasonable questions., due to the value of the Amiga. I have recently acquired a uA1, so really this system will just gather dust now, especially as I have an 060 on the way for my 1200, so I have OS4.1 and classic Amiga all sewn up!
Obviously, most of the Amiga audience is outside Australia. This means postage anywhere outside AUS is stupid money. I guess the value(??) of this system may mean the postage on this item is less of an issue. I would really rather sell the system whole. However, if someone wishes to buy the components ONLY TOGETHER, excluding the case and keyboard to reduce the postage significantly...I am happy to discuss that privately. PLEASE no requests for splits. I will advise in the thread if I wish to go down that path. Minimum postage would be tracked or registered, however I would strongly advise insurance....I guess that's kind of a given for this system.
If the complete system is purchased, included will be the following, subject to buyers wishes...
Above mentioned system
A4000 keyboard (I haven't used this extensively as I use a A1 keyboard on all my systems, but it seems to work normally)
PS/2 optical mouse and PS/2 > AMIGA adapter
Original OS4.1 package, Ill de-register my ownership with Hyperion prior to shipment
Ill include 2 soundcards. 1 works under OS3.9. The other, a SB128, I understand to work with OS4.1 but I haven't tested it. There isnt enough PCI cards to have them installed!
Im asking $2700AUD plus PP fees and postage for the complete system. Works out approx 1880EUR or 1480GBP
UPDATE - Ill ask 1700 AUD + shipping + PP fees for the Cyberstorm, OS4.1 and (if desired) SCSI hard drive.......2 or three items together.
3rd unique offer/option.... System as above, without the Mediator (and expansion cards). without the USB front panel, without the ZorRAM......$2000AUD plus postage and Paypal fees (or gift)
NOW LISTED ELSEWHERE
So some photos...with a few more to come. Please ask any questions freely.....
The System....
