Hi,

Could I fit an Amiga 1200 keyboard inside an Amiga 500 case - not for Amiga use, as I have a PC adapter, just wondered if they were the same size keyboard, etc

Thanks.

Yes it is a direct drop-in.

I built an A500 mini-itx pc years ago. I kind of went with whatever spares I had floating about.

I fiited an A1200 keyboard plastic plate along with the keys/membrane and modded an old dead a500 keyboard baseplate, so the original led/controller pcb could still sit where is should so the power and disk drive led could be used.

Thanks although I had to rig the keyboard to fit as I was using a PC Drive (as I have 3 spares) which appears to be slightly higher than the normal Amiga drive. I now have an Amiga PC with PC inside and working Amiga compatible floppy drive (aka Greaseweasel) and working Amiga Keyboard, although the Left Shift appears not to be working so I will have to take a look at that and also a DB9 joystick port adapter (x2) so I can utilise original Amiga joysticks.

Also, the A500 keyboard has different LED and LED locations, so again I will need to source another board or rig something to show the red power LED (the others dont work as I'm using a Mini PC inside rather than motherboard) - I can now run all models of the Amiga, acceleratored :) and love it!!! The PC brings me the modern tech that doesn't fail or need recapping (and parts can be cheapily replaced), whereas the keyboard, joystick and disks bring along the nostaglia :)

Thanks for your help.

Regarding the leds. I initially took a faulty A500 keyboard controller and planned to isolate the leds so they could be re-wired, to act as pc power and hard drive access leds.
Life got in the way and it never got finished. But now my interest has been piqued again. Thinking about pulling my old modded pc-amiga back out and upgrading it. I did do something silly back along, I cut its perfectly mint case and put in a card reader in the space of the floppy drive. Really wished I never did that now!

With all what has been done over the years I could have had a greaseweazle in there and made it look stock.
