HI.
My VXL30 that I just bought is dead. U19 PAL chip is gone. Hot as surface of the sun.
01-901-U19

Does anyone ever tried to read contents of those PAL chips? Maybe somebody is able to?
Willing to pay for this. Thanks for help.

I’ve got a set of brand new original PAL upgrade chips that came with the RAM32 card? This to upgrade the card to mkiii? N9t sure if you are still interested?

Most likely yes. Do you know the chips numbers? U19 U18 etc.

Please see below. Sorry about the orientation!

Well that’s really rather tiresome isn’t it…. I’m sorry about that.

These are the only PALs that Microbiotics sold separately as far as I know.

I think the only option you’ve got is to read the content of a working U19 and burning to a replacement. The PAL is socketed, so Is it worth extracting your U19 to see if the data is readable? It could be that the PAL is overheating but not broken?

What tech would be required to read the content of the u19 PAL? Are replacement parts available?

It is nearly impossible to read these protected PAL chips - I have not heard of any successful story - they are protected. You would need some super fancy equipment from the past. It is hot as the sun It most likely been damaged anyway so reading it would be rather impossible. Thank you for the effort anyway! It was one of the best cards for 500 for sure. The only hope is that some of the U19 Pal chips out there are not protected and possible to read. Sometimes it happens.

I have read that you can read protected PALs.
However you have to find a working one for copying it, but most important, the reason why yours has been burnt.

Most likely just died due age. They had super high rate of failures. Hence Gals are better.
