Closed Amiga CDTV CDROM drive or Laser assembly

Hi All,

As the subject line says, looking for a replacement internal CDTV CDROM drive - or at least a working laser assembly for mine. One of the ribbon cables that attach to the head has broken off.

I realise I'm probably looking for something rarer than rare but I figured if I was going to stand a chance of finding one, here would be the best place to try!

SF87 laser pickups are easy to find, but needs to modify connectors (4+11 vs 5+12) as new ones are for different drives, and after replacement needs drive calibration.

Hey Ori1a,

Thanks for the information - I didn't realised that these could still be had - unfortunately not so much in the UK and there seems to be quite a lot of different laser pickups with the SF87 model number..

Could you ping me a link to one that's the correct type?

CDTV & A570 used SF87 5+12, but the closest I was able to find is 4+11.
