Withdrawl interest....I managed to fix my original LED board by re soldering all the connections and now both power and hard disk LEDs work!! One of the pads I re soldered had come completely off the board and another was not making proper contact! I thought for sure the hard disk LED was dead but re soldering the connections to it brought it back to life!
