Hi guys, so many many years ago I was the proud owner of a few different Amigas, life got in the way and they disappeared over the years.

Last year, I saw a A500 for sale, and jumped at it, boxed and seals intact, working !!! Spare external drive and got it at a steal of a price..

I've spend the last 6 months wondering what to do, almost breaks my heart to think about opening her up and modding, but I have decided to go for it..

My plans are :

Re-CAP - not sure of the "best" place to go where I will get quality caps.
TF536 - mainly for the IDE / CF card, my old amiga had an A590, and I really splashed out and put a 40MB drive in !!!

Want to do
Is there a way to emulate a modem with an esp8266 type board ?

I think I have to install a new ROM so will boot of the IDE, again, need pointers on that..
Is it possible to use a USB mouse ?

I've currently sorting a GBS8200 with a D1 mini mod, so thats the graphics sorted, and it thats not good enough I have a Pi Zero not doing anything and saw a mod using that to get HDMI output.. Any comparisons out there ?

My budget is around £250, which the TF536 uses a large portion of, I was thinking of a GoTek, but is it worth it if I have a HDD ?

Thanks

Simon

Welcome to Amibay :)

Take a look at www.RetroPassion.co.uk for the recap. They use best quality caps and have a great reputation for their work.

A Kickstart 3.1.4 ROM is a great swap for the 1.3 so you might want to investigate and discuss that option with the guys at RetroPassion too. That should happily get you booting from a HD or CF card on the Terrible Fire.

A Gotek is a nice addition but as long as your drives are in good working condition, there's not a huge need for one. Obviously the biggest advantage is that you can keep all those backup ADF files on a single SD card, handy if you are limited for storage space for all those nice big box games you may acquire.

Amiga to USB mouse adaptors can be found on fleabay and need no drivers so just a case of 'plug n play'
