Hi all.
Yes, I am a nerd.
I started when I was a kid. pulling apart old radios and the like.
I built my first computer at age 13 in 1970, a 4 bit binary counter with lights and switches.
When I was 15 back in 1972 I began an apprenticeship as a Telecommunications Technician and spent 22 years in that trade.
8 years before I retired from that profession a genetic disorder affected my optic nerves and left me legally blind but I could still programme a complex phone system with my eyes shut so to speak so managed the last 8 years in that job before circumstances changed for me.
I then worked at the Royal Guide Dogs assn as Technology Consultant providing specialist technology to the vision im,paired and blind community. This lasted 5 years and funding meant another retirement.
I then had a computer shop but a crooked business partner put paid to that carreer path after only 9 months.
The last 11 years have seen me doing a range of tasks in a call centre for a major mobile phone company mostly specialising in data solutions for customers.
That is not looking great either as health issues (cancer) has laid me low for almost 2 years now.

Well thats me

Cheers all.

I am just north of your family in Kingston.

OK, so, I have a collection of computers

Working backwards

2 Acer tablets
3 laptops
6 desktop PC's
2 Amiga 600's 2 Amiga 1200's 1 amiga 500 1 Amiga 4000
3 C128's and 1 C128D
A number of C64's, an SX64 and a VIC 20 in a pair tree.
Oh I forgot my oldest one, a Casio PB-100 pocket computer with basic 2.0

My home is a techy nightmare with numerous sound systems, 6 LCD TV's and all sorts of other goodies too numerous to mention.
I am also a mad collector of the rock group Jethro Tull and have a collection of memorabilia insured for $45,000

Call me crazy, I know, my wife does.

Welcome to Amibay. :)
It's always good to have new members from different backgrounds on here.

Jethro Tull and Amiga fan at same time, huh?

Well, that make two of us. Welcome!

Jethro Tull? I was rather seeing a Pink Floyd reference!

Either way, welcome to the fold, slipstream56!

It was meant more as a general music reference.
We are the bricks and the forum is the wall and even though the bricks are all the same no two are in the same place. (Very deep)
Plus the fact that the other brick reference does not apply to me as in "thick as a...."
