Hi to all
First, sorry for my poor English, but I will try to explain as possible for me......
After a lot of troubles with CF cards to install OS 4.x, I decided -as other users- to install it on real HDD.
But I'm tired with the Boot Menu of my CSPPC (changing Monitor switch, press ESC, .......). So, I found a better -for me- solution:
I'm using the CSPPC SCSI interface with IDE devices through ACARD 7720UW adapters.
ID1 => CF's
ID2 => HDD 40GB
ID3 => HDD 200GB
ID4 => DVD-RW
ID5 => DVD-RW
Well, installation of any OS 3.x in the CF's (any for each version 3.1, 3.9, ...) works fine and all are OK.
All CF's have:
DH0: Bootable, Priority 0
DH1: Work
DH2: Games
But for OS 4.x I used the ID2 HDD partitioned/formated as:
OS40 => AmigaOS, Bootable, Priority -2
OS41 => OS4Work
OS42 => OS4Games
Well, when I want to boot with OS 3.x I just insert the desired CF, all OK
When I want to install/boot/work with OS 4.x I insert one spare CF 512MB formated as little non-bootable HDD and the OS 4.x boot/works great.
Of course, to change the CF's the power must be OFF.
Notes:
Why I insert the spare CF?......
- ..... Because if I insert a bootable one I need to enter inside the Boot Menu....
- ...... The ACARD-IDE-CF adapters without CF inserted are detected as NULL BRIDGE by my CSPPC SCSI and system goes unstable.
Maybe a little help/idea for someone.... is my intention
All the best
