I just got into it and I hate it...
Created my own survival single player server, gathered some resources in the nearby forest and a mine next to it, build my first cobblestone cottage, kept mining, expanded my home by building an "upstairs", then the cellar, then found some resources under the cellar so dug a few levels down, then I used those resources to build a few more levels of my home, then started a wheat field, then build a few 10x10 fenced pens for them cows, pigs and sheep, traveled the world with my wheat and got the attention of cows, pigs and sheep who followed me home, found some sugar canes in the meantime which got their own few lines on the field... and looked at the clock, it was 6 in the morning and I just played 9 hours straight. :wooha:
DAMN! it's addictive!
I've got it all under control, since then I only played a few hours per day, today didn't even touch it, but I understand perfectly what people see in it, it's incredible. Same thing I felt when I was a kid and gethered resources in The Settlers.
Some hilarious drama in the game happens when people take it way too seriously, see this:

Start watching at ~11:00 to get the context, and then you can skip to ~17:30 and watch the hilarity.
I was ROTFLing hard at what happened on the "funeral ceremony" and poor Ben (named Snarfy_Snarf in the game) got blamed for that too.

In an later episode they explained it was all just a misunderstanding, they're all friends.
