Anyone Downgrading Windows ?

I've been running Windows 10 Pro on all my systems since launch and very happy with it. To me it's a great upgrade to 7. I missed out 8 completely as it was horrible and can't imagine why anyone would downgrade to it from 10.

Amiga friends.. Just run Linux. about 20 years ago, I could have never imagined using Windows as my daily driver (blasphemy!). And I still can't.

I use Linux for a few servers I maintain
however I've never gotten the hang of its (many) desktops

Mans that guide is even more confusing, telling you can edit start menu -> programs directly (file structure) but programs folder doesn't even appear in start button!!!!

lol I've found myself getting really wound up/frustrated each time I come to this tread (not at you guys) but I've twice gone to my windows 10 install today to "have a go" like I have in the past.

Mans I just can't fathom it, why when I install a program does it not just appear in the start menu? Why why why ..........
i just can't understand why Windows would assume I want to goto there mail app in a tile form, but sod the most recent install I have just added!!!!

I moved to Windows 10 as part of my recovery from a very serious crash on my i7 laptop.

Windows 7 had a serious issue with Windows Update which I could not resolve.

I tried all possible solutions and nothing fixed it. Since I didn't want to pay for a Windows 8/8.1 license moving to Windows 10 was pretty much the only solution and it was free.

Considering the reason for the upgrade, it is not likely at all that I will move back to Win7 but I did download Classic shell and Win7 games for WinX.

Fixed the svchost memort leak on every windows 7 machine i've tried it on. Although i've moved over to 10 personally and quite like it.

And that there is my problem

too much clicking and messing abouy, having to swap from keyboard to mouse

previously
windows key->r->notepad
or
start->programs->accessories->notepad

now
go back to desktop, click search bar type notepad

it all seems a bit long winded

why can't all those tiles that pop up when you press the start button in win10 actually be for apps that are useful rather than links to games and crap on the App Store, that aren't even installed

ive no doubt that win 10 is a stable OS it's just so clunky and full of junk I just don't need

id rather pay the £££ for the OS rather than it seeming like a bill board for adverts that I don't need

Updated my Acer Aspire V3 as I thought 8.1 was dreadful, then I experienced 10......and installed Ubuntu.

Like others have said, 7 is better..it feels less intrusive and not like my every mouse click is being collected, recorded and sent to a database in the sky.

That good one even thought when I click start and there notepad on tile. So u got two way of doing it

Works just fine.

I disabled the vast amount of spy components on that machine.

Any guides on doing that you could point us to ?

There are some YouTube videos as I recall. I used a custom install and an app that monitors and keeps the spy components from running. I have to look when I'm home to find the name of the app.

They do. The start menu still works exactly like it always has. Just look in the All Applications section and they are all still there.

And you can customise the tiles, just as you could customise the quick applications list before.

I personally like 10. From a desktop developers stand point it's back to the way it should have been.

The only thing 8 did better as far as I am concerned was the way the keyboard would dock and not obstruct the application it was over. 8s split personality concerning settings was always its biggest flaw. Oh and the hideous Charms bar
