Had interest in Elite: Dangerous and backed it - and never played it. I was looking for a single player campaign or game.

Thanks,

Same here - to the tune of £125, and they removed single player (offline mode) before release. Junk.

Me too. Backed it from the beginning and was eagerly awaiting the release until the patak removed single player, it just became Brabens personal MMO experiment. I'm just not interested in it any more.

I used to play Oolite a lot on my PowerBook G4 back in the day. Really great legacy of the original one.
First time I played it was on my C64. I still play it from time to time.

I am currently playing Elite and despite the lack of a single player campaign it's been a pleasant experience. It's not perfect by any means but I find it enjoyable.

Then I guess I shouldn't buy it and stick too Oolite.

Good idea. It's OK I suppose if you like MMO's, but it lost a lot of people when the single player part was taken out. I did install and try it but I got bored within 10 minutes of the tutorial and uninstalled it, not touched it since. Good graphics but money down the drain as far as I'm concerned.

MMOs are always dependent on an online server. Eventually, it will go down and the game will be worthless.

Elite as well as Oolite, are long term games and MMOs are not.

Before playing Oolite, I played the Amiga version of Elite for years.

That being said, I played Oolite a lot since 2013.

I always felt the best "original" version of Elite was the Amiga release.

Although on the version 1.0, you couldn't place a military laser on the tail, they did fix it in the version 2.0
