I have around 6 commodore datasettes ..but non of them have the mini din ..so I dont have one to load c16 tapes.
So an adapter if cheap enough seems the way to go.
As I said dont want to pay silly money ...as I can get a 1531 on fleabay for about £15 ..

Yep ..thanks for the link .
However ..the vendor also sells the mini pcbs for C2N connection seperately ..
I ordered 2 of these rather than the kit ..and will make one myself ..
I already have 2 mini 7 pin din plugs you see ..so apart from the plastic case I should have enough bits to construct one.
cheers

I'm the vendor :)

Thanks and good luck with mini DIN soldering, it's a pain.
In the description there is a link with instructions for assembling.

The pcbs arrived today buddy ..
thanks for that ...
I got to admit though ..I am very frustrated by the 7 pin mini dins I have ..
they look fine ..but ..whatever they use for pins wont take solder easily thats for sure ..
By the time they get hot enough for the solder to flow ..the plastic base has softened sufficiently to make the pin loose ..
Chinese crap I suspect ..and certainly not tolerant of the heat needed to melt solder and make a good joint ..
any Idea where I might by better quality ones which solder more easily ?
lol

Some tricks:

  1. I use a mini DIN female socket to avoid the plastic melt while soldering. Insert the mini DIN plug in it before soldering.
  2. Use some kind of flux on the mini DIN, this will help a lot, then apply some solder to each pin.
  3. Wait some time (around 15") beetween pins.
  4. Twist and tin the cables before soldering in the mini DIN

Good luck:thumbsup:

PD. if still not taken solder you can file the pins.
I buy mines from here, but also on local stores: https://www.ebay.com/itm/5pcs-Mini-...hash=item211288bf99:m:msNWj757prj8tvWSEBzUBIA

All good advice ...and useful for anyone constructing a kit ..
particularly the female socket idea ..
many thanks ..
