Just be careful when you putting Arcade Designer in when you double click ZX Speccy Exe Arcade Designer files and for some reason and it change all my desktop icons to ZX Speccy Files.......Nightmare!

I dunno how to get back to normal Desktop icons !!!

On a Windows PC ?

Firstly check to see if that exe has uninstaller, if so just uninstall it, that should get you back to the previous icon set.

On a Windows PC ? Yes, I installed on desktop instead of C:\ drive which was mistake really and like you say it would hell of easier if I did installed C:\ drive then all desktop icons would be back to normal I guess if I have uninstall it

You know all my Desktop icons target files saying ZX Speccy files and it would be total nightmare to do it manual on each all Desktop Icons!

You can see Target Files that most of my icons is the same and how do i go back to normal icons? Manual each every icons?

Sounds like you have a corrupt icon database file there. Try this AFTER you uninstall the Arcade Designer.

From the Start Menu:
Search for CMD but do not run it yet.
Right click on CMD in the list. Select the "Run as administrator" option.

In the DOS window:
Type in the following commands, pressing ENTER after each one.

ie4uinit.exe -show

taskkill /IM explorer.exe /F

DEL /A /Q "%localappdata%\IconCache.db"

DEL /A /F /Q "%localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer\iconcache*"

shutdown /r /f /t 00

Note that the last command will instantly restart your PC. So, save your work before your run it.

Quotes and percent signs are there for a reason, please enter them as shown ;)

Hopefully, that should fix your icon problem.

I try to do CMD from search then when I double click the CMD and it wouldnt get me through due corrupt icon database file.

Look like I have to restalled the windows and I should have restore points as that would have save time to return back to normal!

Search for CMD

Right click on CMD in the list. Select the "Run as administrator" option.

Try it here:

<edit>

Also if that fails then open the file's location from the menu then proceed to right-click on CMD and "Run As Administrator" in the window that appears......

deleting iconcache seems a good starting point. to access console:
win-key + r, then cmd, then enter.

I have try both on what you said to me and it failed both as it wouldn't get through !

Either windows key + R on my Windows 11 brings up the following dialog box so no idea why it does not do same on your PC.

seems like the default app for opening shortcut links was replaced. let me boot up windows and have a look.

I think best way for it is search in explore files and try delete iconcache cache but I am not expert on windows as I dont want bugged it up even futher lol

you can open cmd via explorer. navigate to c:\windows\system32 and double click cmd.exe.

in order to verify your situation. when you create a new shortcut on your desktop, it doesnt show a correct icon and doesnt work, correct?

you can open cmd via explorer. navigate to c:\windows\system32 and double click cmd.exe.

Ok I will try that :)

please try creating a new desktop shortcut. if the new one is faulty too, it should be a quick fix.
