Yes, as said the bajaboy, you'll need at least a KS2.05 for the support of the IDE device or a patched 1.3 KS.

On my A1000, I'm using a standard 1.3 KS for games on floppy disks and a 3.1KS for workbench applications.

mkl has designed also a low profile 8Mb expansion really perfect for using into the A1000 with the IDE68k. :-)
 
I saw that you wrote that, but fact is, the plain kickstart13scsi-patch from aminet didn't work for mkl's ide68k (nor does it for kipper2k's ide-in-socket). And my "patch of the patch" is rather new.
