Hmmm. let me see... so many to choose from...

1. AC/DC - 1981 - Hell's Bells Tour, Castle Donington (Monsters of Rock)
2. Status Quo -1977 - Rocking All Over The World Tour, Manchester Apollo
3. Judas Priest - 1980 - British Steel tour, Manchester Apollo
4. Queen - 1983 - A Kind of Magic Tour, Maine Road (Manchester City's old stadium)

That'll do...;)

Oh gee, i thought we was talking about some recent stuff..
If decades count, a few that come to mind were:
Ian Gillan Band 1980,
Roy Gallagher 1981,
Steppenwolf 1990.
All of which were in Athens. :)

I saw Oasis at the Milton Keynes Bowl in 2005 and that was awesome, we got there early and got into the inner ring and were right by the stage which was awesome.

Got some pics somewhere!

I also saw Bon Jovi many years ago at Wembley, it was the last gig at the old Wembley before they tore it down...

But the best gig was my mates the band 'The Cherry Reds'

Nice, the Bass player was so drunk he couldn't play, it was soooooo funny and this was about 8 years ago, they're still going :lol:

They pushed him out the fire exit he was so bad :Doh:

Good Times :beer:

Queens of the Stoneage in Glasgow a few years back. Great music, great atmosphere, great crowd.

Most disappointing was Red Hot Chili Peppers in Edinburgh. They were supported by NERD and even NERD put on a better show. The crowd was rubbish and didn't seem to know any song earlier than By the Way. It was expensive and frankly if I'd spent the money on Tequila at a random pub with live music it would have been a better time:picard

I think I've only ever been to three proper gigs. Need to get out more.:oops:

Gary Moore - ?? ("Shapes of things", before his bluesy stuff.)
The Shadows - 199? (May have been their final tour.)
Bryan May - 1992. Back To The Light Tour.
AC-DC - 199? I missed out seeing them as I was working away from home :thumbsdown:. I still have the ticket somewhere.

Can't really say which is best. They're all good in their own styles. This thread reminds me of the Slash vs Malmsteen arguments on youtube, haha :lol:

Best show ever was (in sentimental order):
-Jethro Tull (circa 1987~89), 25th anniversary tour;
-Emerson, Lake & Palmer in Gramado, ~1997
-Rush, the Vapour Trails tour;
-Roger Waters, In The Flesh tour ~2002
-Roger Waters (again!), The Wall tour (2012)
-U2 (360° tour), April of 2011.

That will do for now, as I'll not count Brazilian artists I saw (too many to count, lol)...

BTW: I'm sure that I'll see Lynyrd Skynnyrd if they pass in my state.

Mark King's live bass guitar at Level 42's concert in Ahoy Rotterdam is one that springs to mind. Must have been around 1990.

Not been to many but one stands out for me.

Fatboy slim vs armand van helden 1999, Stoke.

Had a massive rotating boxing ring with both of them in a fight off on the decks, was pretty awesome looking and I believe broadcast by Radio 1 at the same time.

My main memory is some short haired blonde girl near our group in a black catsuit dancing all night (super intense with shapes etc!) with glow sticks pretty much without stopping. She was defo on something performance enhancing :thumbsup:

From here:

If I have to make a top 5 of different artists I think I'll go for:
<snip>

I'm going to change this list that I posted earlier. G*dd*mn I'm still shaking with adrenaline.....:woot:

In short: I went to see Pearl Jam last 2 nights and these concerts are now taking spots #1 and #2 on my "best live gig ever" list. They played a total of 54 songs, and there were only 2 songs they played both nights, so 52 unique songs. Especially last night's setlist was a real "fanclub-favourites" setlist. They played a great number of pretty unusual songs and the band was on fire both nights. Even some long-time fans have quoted last night as one of the band's best setlists ever. It was nothing short of awesome. Awesome squared, even :)

huge metal fan but never been to metal gig :(

have been to other concerts tho, runrig (scottish band) level 42 a few times but the two biggest gigs ive been to were jean michel jarre at wembley stadium and michael jackson at leeds roundhay park.

One if the best was Iron Maiden on their Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner tour (1985?). That was brilliant.

Slayer were also great.

Clash of the Titans, featuring Metallica and loads of other metal bands was also great.

More recently I managed to see Ah Ha on their return tour. Sound great. Slight diversion from heavy metal I know, but I'm a fan of loads of different genres.

Oh, also saw Jean Michel Jarre in the Docklands, London in the late 90's.

I regret never managing to see Queen live.. And I really wanted to see Pink Floyd on their recent tour but just could go. So annoying.

I'm not really a concert-goer, but Rodrigo y Gabriela live in the Savoy in Cork a few years ago were amazing. If I had to choose one band to see in concert during their prime, it would have to be Def Leppard during the Hysteria tour. I know, I know... Def Leppard have been a joke to people for a long time now, but to paraphrase Joe Elliott, "We were the top band in the world for about twenty seconds." I remember during some music awards/concert show in Ireland back in 1988, at the very peak of their popularity, when Joe Elliott walked onstage to present an award. The crowd went ballistic. They just would not shut up, they screamed for him continuously until he got them to calm down so he could speak. I'll never forget that moment.

Seeing Hysteria-era Leppard with Steve Clark still around in one of those arena stadiums would have been incredible.

Plenty of good gigs i've been to. Here are the ones to remember best:

1995, The Stranglers (Thessaloniki)

1998, Soft Cell (Thessaloniki)

2000, The Waterboys (Thessaloniki)

2005, Thievery Corporation (Thessaloniki)

2009, Sad Lovers and Giants (Athens) - a dream came true and i finally saw this awesome band play live!!!

@Azhrei
I managed to see Def Leppard on that Hysteria tour twice.

First time at Newcatle City Hall (only holds 2200 people max) they were late on stage because they had been recording Pour Some Sugar On Me for Top of the Pops.

Then a little later on when the album had suddenly took off I saw them again at Whitley Bay Ice Rink (Probably held 4000 people) - both times they were brilliant and Steve Clark was excellent.

Am glad I saw them at the smaller venues because next time I saw them was in an arena and they were average (and sadly without Steve Clark)

Then again I have never been a fan of large venues - thats why I stopped going to see most bands

Wow, wish I'd been there. And yeah, a lot of the magic was lost when Steve Clark died. I grew up on the type of music that was playing during 80's Ireland - usually the sugary pop-hits that hit the top ten that my mother used to have on the radio. I was at a friend's place when he put on his Hysteria tape and I remember I was glued to the floor for a few seconds when the opening to Gods of War came on. My ten year-old self had never heard of such music before, and I've been a fan ever since. Though it's true they're nowhere near where they used to be - Elliott smoked through the 90's and it's absolutely ruined his voice. It's not just that he can't hit the high notes like he used to, it's that his voice sounds absolutely terrible by comparison.

And yeah, you're right - I think I'd prefer to see them in a smaller venue than a bigger one. Watching the In the Round concerts is great on video, probably not so much for many in attendance.

Dream Theater 20th Anniversary concert and also the current tour 'Along for the Ride'. Both were first class!

Best has to be Cliff Richard sometime in the 90's I think singing Elvis songs... :double

Worst has to be Prodigy at the BIC in Bournemouth about 10 years ago...

Or is that the other way around? :Doh:
