HI there I got psp but the snes emulation is pants and just wondering if there is a better system out there now for emulation thanks shaun

The psp is a great emulation system that was well supported once cussing custom firmware because easy to install. The problem is the system is fairly slow by today's standards so does struggle for some emulation. I always found it pretty good for snes emulation myself.

These days Android is very well served for emulation. You can get dedicated Android based handhelds, but I tend to just use my phone.

I really wish the Vita would get cracked as that would be a brilliant emulation platform with lots of power, good controls and touch screen.

It runs very well on my Pandora but they're hard to find. You could try a GP2X, with it's 4x3 screen it's nice for old 16bit consoles :)

NINTENDO DS Is ok. The spectrum emulator is brilliant. SNES is ok and Megadrive ain't bad. I don't use it for much else really. Haha!

Ditto on Android. Most modern phones can emulate flawlessly. If you're not a fan of touchscreen controls, Ipega makes some very nice controllers that will hold your phone. Or, if you have a PS4 controller, there are cheap phone clips for that.

I agree with Radon_22 that an Android phone with a clip on Joypad such as the G910 etc is the best solution, at least for me.
The best improvement to the overall experience was to replace the default launcher with one that rotates into landscape mode such as ADWLauncher.

The Pandora is awesome.

I have a JXD tablet with decent gaming controls, it's pretty underpowered but games play well. Battery is shot and build quality is abysmal.

PSP is really solid, wish SNES was a little better. Definitely playable. The PSP Go is perfectly small.

Emulation on my 3DS XL is kind of crappy.

The GPD XD looks pretty promising. It looks kinda like a single screen 3DS XL.

The Pyra from dragonbox is coming soon, and is pretty much built for emulation.

Agreed, one they CFW it it will hands down be the best emulation device for the reasons you've mentioned. Finally a pocket sized Dreamcast :D

Plus the screen is just so awesome, really great handheld in every respect, just weird how it didn't sell.

BTW, this thread made me start screwing around with my Pandora again. Anyway. I did play some SF Rush (basically in slow motion for a few seconds) for Dreamcast. CAN'T freaking wait for the Pyra. So much power in a handheld computer is going to be insane.

I have a JXD S7800 and it does a very good job of anything up to around PSOne. MAME, SNES, Mega Drive, Neo Geo, GBA etc are incredibly smooth on it. Even later stuff like DS and Dreamcast run pretty well. Unlike most knock off devices it also has very good solid controls, eg you can play Street Fighter properly. As with any "cheap" device the only worry is build quality, I have been through two of them because they don't last very long (but saying that I do use mine for 3+ hours every day on the train so my first one lasted for hundreds of hours.)

I'm going to have a messabout with the new ps vita hack henkaku today see if it's any good

How is the form factor in the Pandora as it doesn't look like the most comfortableof machines even though they've recycled the design for the Pyra. The GPD Windows 10 machine looks very good and has ace reviews too.

got a JXD S7800 boxed, its probably seen less than 50 hours use.

yes its brilliant, the customisable controls are great and it feels pretty well built.

the bad.

Wifi sucks, you gotta be in the same room for it to work properly (Ipad works outside my house ), the battery doesnt last very long at all. (compared to my 5 yr old ipad which lasts over twice as long), and it gets hot.

might give it another try as its not worth selling compared to what we paid for it.

Was very tempted to get one just to emulate Dreamcast, have you tried it with that?

It's more comfortable than it looks but I agree that GPD device looks to be really nice.

Thanks. This whole ultraportable area really could take off this year as the specs and battery are finally in line, all we need is a good design (and controls) at the right price.
