better ask before I sell stuff :)

After my initial failed attempt at selling on here. I realised I just didn’t educate myself enough, and in turn, I upset some people.. I must apologise to those personally.

Anyway, recently I have educated myself with reading the great threads on here, which I advise anyone to do. I have bits to sell that I wont list yet, but I wondered, where do I get those anti-static bags? I don’t want to use old ones, and nor do I want to be charged too much for them.

We have many a computer shop here, so what should I expect? are they in difference sizes?

Also, am I as well buying those post-office (royal mail) posting boxes to send my gear, or should I use any box? I think presentation of delivery is probably important also.

I am glad I will be able to finally let my Amiga gear go within a forum like this, as I know it will be in the loving hands of someone that will love it just as much as I do. Equally they will get just as much if not more satisfaction out of using it these days.

I look forward to trading and getting to know some of you.

I re-use anti-static bags and boxes matey.
As long as the product is packaged securely and safely then i don't worry about the external appearance of packaging :thumbsup:
 
Thank you John, I will get right onto getting me some bags.

Funny how I havent used Ebay in a while, I didnt think.. I have gotten enough pap there anyway, why wouldnt I get anti-static bags.

Oh, and don't be afraid of re-using stat-bags. I don't think I've ever acquired a new one, every single one is recycled.

And failing that, just wrap your things in tinfoil, it'll achieve the same objective!

Maybe it's just me, but I expect the seller to take 2 minutes before he tosses the stuff in the mail, to take 2 minutes to clean the item, especially if it has been sitting in a shed for 20 years. Call me crazy, but I don't like pouring a cup for dirt or sand out of a box. But that's just me, a fast spray down and wipe with windex and a paper towel is much appreciated. Those Mr Clean Magic erasers do wonders on the outer cases.

I very much doubt I am one of those that takes two minutes and "tosses" the stuff in the mail. why would I be asking for advice? I love my Amiga stuff, its heart-breaking enough having to rid the stuff. Its taken me 4 years to get this far! And its far from been sat in a shed for 20 years, its been sat right beside me all its life!

The expectations are wrong about this seller. :thumbsdown: The buyer will receive practically sterile! Maybe that’s just they way I am.... :whistle:
 
Even though Godzilla told me no more amiga stuff cuz its taking up far too much space its good to hear people in this day and age respect the Amiga hardware to care about it when posting and general use.

The machine itself is still as useable now as it was when i first had my A500 and shows the modern OS's a thing or two even now.

One day once the kids have moved out and i can get my own comp room i will be getting more amiga stuff but for now i have to contend with emulation. :(

I suspect Glen was making a general comment, rather than suggesting anyone in particular, and I know what he means. Some of the stuff I've bought on eBay, it's a miracle it works at all! I always try to take care with what I'm sending out, it should be clean, well-packaged, and in an anti-static bag where appropriate.

On my last purchase on Ebay the seller didn't even take 2 minutes. He took a 6 inch square board and tossed it into a 1 foot cube box, took a plastic grocery bag and made a balloon out of it. By the time it got to me it ran out of air and the board bounced around all the way across the country. The board was described as "new opened box" but luckily the parts I needed weren't broken.
