I read technical forums the same way I watch movies I miss the beginning of, by "Inference." So when I come across something that is incorrect by the lack of capitalization, I read it with the correction applied without giving it a thought. At a national meeting I listened to a doctoral type give an hour long lecture on how the calculated calories in nutrition are completely bogus and otherwise not true. During his one hour talk no one stopped to tell him that a "cal" is one thousandth of a "Cal." That a calorie raises 1 gram of water 1 degree of centigrade while a Calorie raises 1000 grams of water. From that point on I use Kcal to make sure I listen to fewer lectures.

I see medical charts referring to the IV fluids as "cc's" knowing that as a measure of dry volume a cc only is equal to an ml just above the freezing point of water at its most dense. I see hours noted as number with a superscript "o" and know that the use of the o ' " are nautical notations for degrees, hours, and minutes ("' are seconds). I know that the reference to the symbol of a big "O" with a "+" below and a big "O" with an arrow erection are not female and male, but are astronomy symbols of Venus and Mars.

Sometimes knowledge prevents you from seeing the heart of things. But there is an old saying that, " You can't make anything fool-proof, as fools are too ingenious!" Live with them, embrace them, and love them

PS, Fahrenheit had planned to make zero the boing point of water and 212 the freezing point, but was talked out of it.
