Does anyone have the original foil sticker and rubber feet that appeared on the base of C64 or point to me a good source (other than ebay) where I could buy replicas? A warranty seal would also be nice, there's a switch on the back so it's perfectly obvious the machine has been tampered with so it's more for my own need wanting it to be complete.

I'm in the process of removing the gold paint from my C64 using Dettol

Phil from http://store.retroleum.co.uk/c64-misc-components-fuse-etc can sort you out for badge + power (4.50) and 4 feet (1.5 gbp) plus postage.

You specifically mentioned not eBay (but the feet you can get here cheaper). Look for 3m 12mm 4mm black Bumpons. And there is a seller in Italy offering 3 badges + 1 C16 for 5 euros.

And a warranty seal. Original? Sounds dodgy to me.

I don't think retroleum sell actual foil warranty stickers unless I'm mistaken.

Personally if I couldn't find one second hand I'd look for a short-run sticker manufacturer who could do a one off. Unfortunately many insist on short run of at least 10 (not much use if producing a serial number!)

I would agree although as OP says, it has a switch installed hence not much chance of it being mistaken for unopened. However I'd rather not have a warranty sticker at all with my C64s as it'll only be another few months till something blows and I have to open it again!

And I also misunderstood. I thought he meant a case badge + power badge. Now reading again you mean the foil one. You can get an A4 sheet of vinyl printed off, laminated and trimmed for about a fiver. You just need to design the labels yourself in CORELDRAW or Adobe Illustrator. I've not found anyone making foils so cheap mind you.

Thanks for the replies.

mrr19121970 - I will grab those 3m 12mm 4mm black Bumpons from ebay as you suggested as the other website is out of stock, thanks
sputnik - that's a good point if I ever have to open it up again - it would probably a waste of money now you mention it.
Amon_RA - I'll keep my eye out for a broken C64 for the foil sticker as well, thanks.

I too 'need' a case sticker. I am speaking to my printers now, Oracal 651 is silver matt and you can print photo quality on it. So maybe I will knock something up in CORELDRAW.

Now is the big question. The serial number. I am thinking about using 'real serial numbers' but want to have your opinion on stopping fakes. Any suggestions or ideas on the matter?

I guess you could use the serial number of the board inside (if it has one), thus maintaining some originality without potentially duplicating someone else's. Failing that, add a leading number or letter, in the same way that European Commodore PETs all had a 1 in front of the serial?

That would be great is you are able to. Not sure on the serial number, maybe make it in a different format to the ones used by the factory so people know they're not the originals? For me, it's just making the machine look the part and finish the restoration (of sorts), talking of which - seems to have come up quite well under all that gold paint.

I made a mockup. I will be sending an order off to the printer now...

They will not be silver, but grey. This way easily identifiable as 'replicas'.

I see from your pictures you have a C64G with a 'breadbin' logo. Funny that, I have a breadbin with C64G logo.

That looks great and works for me.

The rubber feet you suggested arrived today and are perfect, thanks. A sticker will finish it off nicely.
