Hi all

Quick one, I've always wondered! You know the traditional commodore tape player - why does it have a braided earth strap out the plug?

There is no place to attach it on the c64 - and it always works fine without.

There must be a reason!

its da law:lol:

its a ground wire by the way.

I've heard it was to comply with radio emission laws. The only Commodore computer I know of that has an attachment point is the PET series.

I believe it is there really to comply with US electrical regs at the time and tbh it is not really required on UK units. Someone correct me if I'm wrong and I'm sure there is a bit more technical depth to the answer but that is my understanding anyway.

This is what I was always led it to be too.

It's for whipping the c64 to help speed up the tape loading
The 1541 should have had one too

TC
