I have never seen one with an engraved label before - is that an original case or after-market?

It's an original case, the last revision... to cut the production cost by eliminating the label and the time (and person?) it took to put it in position

So I guess this may have been just before they moved to make the C64G which was also for cost-cutting as far as I know.

In that case they must have retooled the old C64C moulds instead of making new ones, but the KS64C cases did not have this engraving. Or maybe they just retooled a few of them since production quantity was lower anyway.

Edit: And sorry for the noise, I just thought it was interesting.
