Hello Chumleys

Here's Some Piccys of what has become my testbed C64 chassis
(One of Kwaz's dead boards repaired)

Two successfully completed projects

(1) Homebrew PLA mkII
100% compatible with no adverse affect on the system apart from that it now works :lol:

(2) SwinSID
Gazcbm kindly sent me the pcb a while ago & I finally got round to finishing it.
Quite impressed with it's performance, best of all plugs into ANY SID socket.

A nice job as always. I've looked into some of the replacement PLA and SID chips, but I've got a stack of C64s for parts. :)

I need to make a few PLA replacements for my breadbins. I only need one, but I can't sell the others without PLAs!
Also, those are REALLY shiny pins on your ext port there. Holy cow!

Can we see where your SwinSID plugs into the chassis?

The SwinSID IS plugged into the motherboards SID socket..i have now removed thge ISP programming cable as it is no longer required..

I'm going to be building a run of SwinSID's very soon mainly for the Acorn boy's to use in their BeebSID's so they can stop robbing C64's :lol:
But if anyone here wants one I can increase the qty...

Sound wise, I can't distinguish it from a regular SID but then I can't tell the difference between the 65 and 85 SID's either...:lol:

What's cool is you that you get a nice pleasent chime when you boot the c64 which adds a nice touch..

Regarding the PLA, tip for you all, don't assume you need the fastest device available...Slower ones integrate better with the C64's bus timing as there are no hardware latches on the board unnlike the Vic20

Nice job on hardware "patching" the C64s back into working condition, even though I'm a purist and keep to the 6581 series only as far as possible.

I know I shouldn't be looking, but I just couldn't help it: There's no hint of the teeniest bulge in those pants that I can see.

I think that our hero might really be a heroin!
