hi TREX, i am interested in purchasing, but can i ask a question (apologies if it was asked already)...

with your device, does it make it IMPOSSIBLE for the C64 to receive damage from an official C64 PSU which suddenly goes bad?

Yes, the principle of operation is to prevent the C64 computer from having more voltage than 5.38V.
When there is a higher voltage than ~5.38V, the C64 Saver turns off the power for C64 and the red led lights up.

hey thanks for the info, and for the 9v AC which the C64 PSU also provides, is this not something which needs to be concerned about (eg. is this protected by the C64 internal fuse?) ps. can i also ask, can the C64 Saver itself become damaged by a faulty PSU? :thanks:

9VAC is not stabilized in the power supply, it is connected directly to C64 (fuse in the middle of C64), only inside C64 is stabilized to 12V DC, etc.
The problem of power supplies for C64 is a + 5V DC stabilizer which over time, along with or with temperature, the voltage increases to such a level that it can damage c64.

Yes, but the voltage must have been very large.

My C64 Saver arrived Saturday, it took longer than I expected (from Warsaw to London) but it's here, that's the main thing. I haven't had a chance to use it but it looks nicely constructed, thanks TREXoldcomputer!
