Everyone,

I am making a run of vimfuego's C8D Joystick Switchers!

http://www.lemon64.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=35657

The C8D Joystick Switcher swaps joystick port 1 and port 2 on Commodore 8-Bit computers at the push of a button.

Features:

- Switches both the digital signals from the joystick and the analogue signals for the mouse or paddles.
- Remembers the last swap state when turned off and resumes that mode when the C64 is turned on again.
- Provides ESD protection for the C64's CIA's as there is no direct connection from the C64's ports to the joystick inputs.

Differences in my version:

- Blue PCB
- Blue Push Button
- Clear LED that Shines Red When Lit
- Open Source 3D Case Is Being Designed (not included with device) - *UPDATE* A second C128 compatible case will also be offered

Cost: $30 - One Assembled Ready to Use Device. Sorry, no kits.

Shipping:

If you buy this along with your SaV64, I can ship it in the same box at no additional cost.

$5.25 - USA Shipping Small Flat Rate Priority Mail
$7.43 - Canada - Up to 2 Units
$9.18 - International - Up to 2 Units

PCBs and parts have been ordered. I will provide updates as things arrive.

Thanks!

Heather

Dear Heather,

I would be delighted to have one if it can work also on my 128D the plastic one.

@kerkyra2007

I don't have a plastic C128D to test but it works in the metal C128D.

Heather,

I have a plastic 128D as well, so I'll test it with that and report back to you.

Thanks Thomas!

I have a quick update for everyone. Half of the components for the project arrived yesterday and the other half is due to arrive on Monday. There were only about 20 of the plastic stands in stock and the rest are back-ordered but they already had some ordered so hopefully they won't take too long to arrive.

I also received an email a little while ago letting me know that the PCBs have shipped! Since I went with a faster delivery method, the PCBs should be here on Tuesday!

Keep watching the thread for updates and status changes.

The United States Postal Service unexpectedly raised their rates this weekend. The $9.18 International shipping rate has gone up to $13.25. That's an increase of $4.07 per unit that I am shipping. Shipping within the USA increased from $5.25 to $6.80. That's an increase of $1.55 per unit. I will cover this increase but it is coming directly out of my pocket. If you placed an order for a device, a small donation to help offset this cost would be appreciated but it is not expected.

If you have not yet paid for your unit, your order has been canceled. Please contact me via PM if you would like an adjusted quote based on current shipping costs.

I am not accepting any more orders until after all the current paid orders have shipped.

Thank you,

Heather

Units shipped to warkopz and sweetlilmre. All other units should ship by the end of this coming weekend.

Hi Heather,

So just to be sure, I can unplug my joystick from port one and plug it into port two, push a button, and play my game while the C64 is still on?

Rob

Hi Rob. I'm not selling any more units until all the current orders have shipped. If I don't have any left then there will be pre-orders for a second run.

To answer your question, yes! You push the button while the C64 is running and the joysticks are instantly swapped between the ports.

I would like to preorder a c8d as well as a sav64. Please pm me when available.

Anyone on the fence about getting one of these should jump on it while it's here. The first run is done, where mine is on reserve over at Lemon64 ... a second run is being considered. This is a concise high quality device that works like a charm and may not be offered again, or at least likely not anytime soon. It takes quite a bit of effort to make projects like these available, where once they are done they may be done for good. Many thanks to SkydivinGirl for bringing this project back to life.

Thanks for the positive words! I need a minimum pre-order level of 20 units to make a second run worthwhile and it looks like there's enough interest so far for about half that number. I'll open a pre-order thread once the first run is shipped. Here's a picture from last night of what's left to ship from the first batch.
