After much hand-wringing, calling around to half a dozen places and pleading for mercy, the motherboards of each system have been sent up to Amiga of Rochester for repairs. The boards just arrived a few hours ago, according to UPS. I'm told that 2000's are fairly easy to diagnose/fix, but Varta-damaged 3000's can be a massive PITA.
Speaking of 3000's, I also talked with Dr. Chris. Nice guy--He graciously offered to take it in for freepair, which may actually ultimately what happens, for that one, specifically. Hopefully I can keep my place in line there.
I did, but, I figured i'd be helpless to do anything with that knowledge. GIven the damage on the boards, it's likely going to take more than what I have, skill-wise, to fix them. Incidental solder reflows and occasional bodges I think I could do, but not the kind of full-on socket removal/vacuum soldering/continuity testing the work probably needs. If anything, I might even make it worse. I've seen bad solder work before, much of it my own.
