Hi

Is the original CDTV caddy unique to the CDTV unit, or just a generic caddy from that time period?

I ask since I recently acquired a CDTV without caddy (I was shown its working via video), and a similar caddy I have doesnt seem to quite fit.
It goes nearly all the way in, but seems like it needs another few millimeters to lock in place.

I did take the drive mechanism apart to clean the laser, so there is a possibility I caused this, but before I take the unit apart again, I'd like to make sure I have the correct caddy.

Anyone have close-up hires images of the original caddy, so I can try & spot differences?

Thanks in advance :)

It is generic as far as I know. Perhaps the one you have sourced is unique.

here is a pic of one I had:

Hi

I'll take a few pics of the caddy I have & post them.
It originally came from a DTS cinema player from the mid 90's.
Back then the DTS soundtracks came on CDs which were synced with the film print.

Thanks for the pics!

By the look of it, my caddy should work, which means I'll have to take the unit apart, again...

I'm extremely unlucky with this CDTV :(
Turns out, the mechanism got "stuck" due to old & sticky grease.
Fixed that, and the caddy fell into place as it should.

I tested the unit with a music CD, it ran fine for a few minutes and then the mechanism started doing strange noises (high pitch whine and clicking) and it stopped detecting CDs.
Took it apart again, saw nothing wrong, decided to measure voltages on the drive's power connector.
There's 7.5V on the 5V line and 2V on the 12V line :(
