CDTV cd drive

I'm hoping someone here will know. Is the Amiga 500 A570 CD ROM Drive with caddy the same CD Rom Drive used in the CDTV?

Cant seem to find any photos to match, but they are supposed to use the same controller, which is not scsi or ide, one of them custom panasonic controllers i think. Although i seem to recall my drive being mitsumi. I will pop it open to check when i get a chance.

I think you are right about it being a Mitsumi mechanism. The actual controller may be different though, does the CDTV have a Xilinx FPGA in it?

It's the bit that allows the device to pretend it's something else.

It's not to arrive for another week. Mitsumi is mentioned in the parts manual.
