Cheap-o-gass soldering irons suck!

Here we go then. I waited weeks on end to get my soldering iron from singapore "should have known it would suck" Any way i started using it and it was working just fine did some soldering jobs. "the catalyst glowing brightly by where i was working sucked a bit. and radiating heat on to components i didnt want it to also was prety annoying, but thats not why im here to rant.
I used the jet flame thingy to remove some chips "thats not a good idea btw for any 1 wondering" And in genera the whole thing worked.

Today i needed to change some caps on a lcd monitors inverter board. so i sparked up my soldering iron, and it was like a blow torch. i thought prehaps the catalyst was to blame in my soldering iron attachment so i changed it to the other adapter that makes a pointed flame.. But that was like a bunsen burner.

Now i have to ship the damn thing backto singapore at cost cost! and if i do that i have no idea what they will do when it arrives there. will they refund me my money minus the shipping? that will suck because with shipping both ways it's probably going to end up as a monitary loss for me.
Or will they replace it with a new cheapo piece of junk that will yet again jurn in to a useless fire breathing apperatus within 24 hours.

Stupid piece of junk soldering iron.
In the mean time i dont have a soldering iron again, and i have work to do!
My money is tied up in parts that i cant use because i dont have the tools i need.

I guess the old saying is right. "buy cheap buy twice"

Don't you have like a Radio Shack over there? They usually have soldering irons for like $8 or so..

Yeah, I really love buying cheap products.. Honestly. I think it's fun, but I've been burned (NPI) with that. I got a really cheap s-video/composite to VGA adapter that works great.. for composite.. One of the colors (color ranges? whatever) is a pixel too low when using s-video.. Looks "almost OK, but not"..
and not worth sending it back...

So, I love cheapo things, but not for stuff I "need."

No Tandy (UK Radio Shack company) went atleast 10 years ago now.

still trying to get a responce from the company in regards as to what they will do when they recive the item.
i am requesting a refund.
they will probably want to offer a replacment..
In the mean while i have to buy a new soldering iron.

I have no idea why it would just turn in to a bunsen burner though. it did have a jet flame like it was suposed to then it was just a flame like a lighter has.
Stupid lame soldering iron.

maybe il get a hot air station next with soldering iron and heating hot air blower. probably more suitible for what i do any way. but thats not happening for a while yet.
