My lad is autistic. Trying to teach him consequences is very hard and frustrating.

He’s 26 this year and will live with us for the foreseeable future. His room has a finite amount of space. I’ve already given up my space in the house i don’t have a pc desk anymore, a laptop on a moving bed trolley that can be put away or used buy the kids for other stuff.

So. If he buys something he has to clear it with us 1st. There are rules. We have to know what’s coming. The loft is full. Anything he buys HAS to fit in his room.

He thinks if he buys something he can get rid of something else. Now “get rid” is the issue. Its left to me to help him sell. We have warned him 100’s of times we are not his get out of jail card he must take responsibility for his actions. I.E. his room so full he has to move stuff off his bed to his pc chair to sleep every night. This inconvenience for him reminds him of his “stuff” he wants to “get rid” of.

Also the stuff he wants to “get rid” cost him quite a bit but suddenly becomes a hindrance . worthless. Has issues. Not good for intended purpose. Etc etc etc etc yawn.

I refuse to aid and abet his purchases and if he wants to “get rid” HE must do it.

I will help him package and fill in the forms but I’m not doing it for him.

Harsh or not he WILL eventually get the message to get off his rear and sort it out.

Rant over.
