Had anyone played Civilization?

I used to played it on Amiga Civilization which was ahead of the time. I do know that is long game depending how big map is and how many enemies you playing against.

Civilization 2 PC? That had be fastest pace game than rest of the Civilization series!

Civilization 3? Not played it much.

Civilization 4? it was fast game but not details as Civilization 5!

Civilization 5? I seem like the game and much better than Civilization 6!

Civilization 6? I didnt like it.

Civilization 7? Not try it but I will try it on Game pass for sure.

Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution Xbox? I have finished it , cartoon graphics and good fun battle against 5 computer bots.

Interesting Thread, Civ3 was my favourite after the first one for the Amiga. Colonization was amazing too.

I got hooked on Civilization - playing it on the PC at work and my Amiga at home back in the early 90s. When they released Civ 2 for PC only it was time to build myself a PC. I did that again for III, IV and V. I have VI but don't play it much. VII is too expensive at the moment, so I might wait for it to come way down before I check it out. I mainly play V still, a few days a week. I'm still finding new things and completing silly achievements. Also have Colonization, CivNet, Civ IV Colonization, Alpha Centauri for PC, and Revolution for DS. And Sid Meier's Memoir book. It is a pretty good read - didn't know that Sid was actually born in Canada!!

I mostly played Civ2 and Civ4 and my prefered one is civ4. I have fond memories including some of ethical regrets after destroying the huge cultural capital of the Aztecs with nuclear missiles and waging war across a full continent.
Just one more turn.

I can't recall if it was number 3 or 4 that was an absolute pita to play multiplayer over network. I think it was number 3, liked it a lot though still.

I tried to play Civ on my A500 but it just wasn’t up to the job. Very slow.

Since then I’ve played every version (with every expansion) on the PC up until Civ 6, but Civ IV is my sweet spot. I’ve put more hours into Civ IV than the rest of the entire series combined.

Shout out for Alpha Centauri too.

The only problem with otherworldly "versions" of this game franchise is the conspicuous lack of Ghandi. :)

Civ V is my favorite. Close second is the original. I don't know why but I could never get into VI.

More I think about it, I actually realize I never played 2/3/4. I should give 'em a shot.

The original on Amiga was such a classic. Civilization 2 definitely had that fast-paced vibe, for sure. Civilization 4 was cool, but 5 really stepped things up with the details and the combat system.

As I stated above in my first reply, I still play V a lot. I just wish they would take V and add the following;

- an actual Privateer where the Civ is unknown unless the defender captures the ship
- the ability to pass ships through a city-state that is on an isthmus and an ally
- stacking units, or at least, units able to pass through other units (I know this has existed in some versions of Civ)
- AI generated diplomacy so one could tell other Civs where to go and what to do once they got there (this might actually be quite funny but it would be interesting to see some of the reactions)
- smarter Scouts - so they proactively retreat from and avoid barbarians once they encounter them
- the ability to embark and land troops via transport ships like in Civ II(?) or even using Caravels or Frigates
