Ladies and Gents,
Please use this thread here to post any questions or comments on our changes to the Trading accounts here on Amibay following the announcement HERE.

We always welcome constructive criticism whether positive or negative, so feel free to post anything you feel maybe of help.

Thank you.

Actually, I think its pretty good. I am no where even close to a Commercial Venture", so for a little guy like me, it means I can pick up the few odds and ends I need for my personal collection. Remember, my "on-line store" is not set up to make me a living, but to allow me to get more Amiga stuff, without having to break the bank. I am an Amiga collector and user first, and my store helps me get rid of the extra stuff.:D

Yep, good idea but can it also state under each traders avatar as to which they belong to - just having "Trader" seems a bit vague now there's 2 types IMO

[edit]

Can there also be a dedicated form for people applying for either Private or Commercial Trader status either accessible via the forum or sent out upon application via PM. Once received, it can be looked over by the powers that be before giving the green light.

They will be Commercial Vendor or Private Trader

@ blankstare

Yes, there are indeed two types and we needed to recognise this. That was the whole reason behind the changes, in order to be able to separate the true commercial trading people, from the community-based collectors that may buy and sell items regularly but don't do this as a commercial enterprise.

The whole team that runs AmiBay had a long, epic discussion as to what defines a trader, which category they really fell under in how they served the site, and how they should be described that captured the activity correctly that was easily understood by our members; this was no small task and a lot of debate went into this.

The announcement was intended to explicitly qualify how each type of trader is defined.

At some point in the future a revamp of the Trader area will be undertaken to neaten things up and reflect the new way we define members that support our community via selling activities.

Never thought about a form. At this stage, anyone who's interested in changing their account status need only PM any member of staff requesting it.
That staff member will raise the request in the staff area, for ratification and action.

This.

The PM system works for AmiBayer status requests, so it should also work for these categories.

Private trader Q

Private trader Q

As a private trader, if you buy something for 'personal use' then decide you no longer want it. Can you resell it back to the community , <SNIP>
(appreciate the sentiment but it's not necessary)

Err, didnt read the bit at the end of the news piece directing to a dedicated thread. Can this be moved/closed/vanished/we !

Sorry!

Absolutely.
The point is that it is for "personal use" and not just purely buying to re-sell and make a profit.
If you subsequently decide that you don't want it, there is nothing to stop you from selling it again if it doesn't meet your needs.

The point of a Private Trader account is to allow a deal of flexibility and openness.

Questions like this lead to price driving which AmiBay does not endorse.

I didnt see how what I said was price driving. Even after reading the rules I still don't. Regardless, I didnt mean to.

I'm sure you didn't. The rules & guidelines within the News Section need to be read in full until the new AmiBay rules & Regulations are publicised. You also have to read in between the lines to fully appreciate what AmiBay is all about. The final rules & regulations are due for release any time. *cough* - just 4 more weeks....

Seriously though, don't sweat about it. It's just friendly advise. ;)
