Finally got my keyboard adapter built last night, using a std C128 keyboard.
All keys function great, both VIC and VDG outputs fine..C128 and C64.
Now able to fully test the system.

However the drive refuses to format any discs in C128 mode or CPM...

Closer investigation reveals the process falls over when starting to format the other side of the disc....check head loom using meter, all connections good..

I stripped down my own 1571 and swapped the drive chassis.
The C128D now works perfectly with my drive, full dual side formatting etc...

So it appears that the drive inside the C128D has a dead floppy head on side2....
I'm not really happy about that...

Glad to hear the plan B worked! Any pics of the adapter?

There has been replacement head units for the 1571 every now and then on the other bay.

Yes I will make picture of adapter, you will like it very much it is simple yet tidy

I have sent request to superbonio to please supply replacement working drive chassis as I need my standalone 1571 fully working to copy double sided cpm disks..
After all in post 1 the item is described as 100% working, had I known about the faulty drive then I would not have bought this system, double sided 1571 is important for my use..

I would just like to publically thank and praise superbonio's kindness and help in sorting out this problem with the drive.

The guy has bent over backwards and kept in constant touch in obtaining and testing a replacement drive which he will be sending shortly.

A real credit to the community and a true gentleman..
