Do these run on 12 or 5v?

the originals run on 12 or 9 volts,so as the seller is saying you have to state which one to buy,i would say either depending on sid to be replaced.
My intensions are not to use this in a C64, but for testing purposes in developing my own computer that I am busy engineering. Preferably I would choose an 8580 variation, but the only difference is in the hex file burned to the internal eeprom.

According to the "publicly" available SwinSID schematic which has a pass-through for an actual SID chip, +12v or +9v (vdd) respectably is only used on the actual SID chip and from what I can see in the official SID pinout, +5v is also available as vcc. I can safely assume that vdd is simply ignored in these versions and only vcc is used.

I have answered my own question.

Interested in one 64 1986 6581 version on behalf of a fellow Brazilian friend.

I will have one once i know what sid chip i am getting as I have bought a C64C although I think its the newer sid in those. I just hope its in a socket.

Any test files available? The ones from earlier in the thread are dead now.
Must be mono and recorded from a real C64.

I found some online, but they demonstrate stereo SID and use extra features not in a real SID. The ones on youtube are recorded from a TV with a camera, so sound quality is lousy.

I don't think I'll use it in my C64, but it could be fun to build a synth around it (like a sidBox). The pulse waves are not very good when I compare them to my 6581R4AR, but the other waveforms are decent. I certainly like how quiet it is!

Thanks! Hope you like it as much as I do.
