Just to say have soldered in the new psu board and it works great! Voltage under C64 load is 4.9V which seems to be fine. Assume it’ll be fine if/when I find a 1541 drive to use with it too. A very elegant, neat solution which retains use of the original PSU brick and the vintage ‘vibe’ rather than paying for a whole new power supply. Thanks for a great product! :D

Thanks for your feedback! I'm glad you like it! I created it because of exactly the reason you mentioned; to be able to use your old style power brick AND have a safer solution inside. IMO the wedge PSU is quite fugly.

The original PSU delivers around 5.1-5.15V and that extra 0.1-0.15V compensates for the voltage drop across the power cord, switch and so on. In the future I *might* create a board with adjustable voltage output (around 0.1-0.2V added to the 5V) to be able to fine tune the 5V in the C64. Unfortunately free time is sparse nowadays but who knows... :)

It's probably better to use an adjustable voltage regulator as the excess voltage with the one above will generate heat and one of my goals is to keep it as cool as possible.
