Evening,

It might be a stupid question, but I don't have a CDTV anymore.

I'm helping a guy repairing his CD-1200 controller, but only have a CD32 - anyone know if it's AUX port would work with this ?

Unfortunetly I don't know much about the CD-1200 controller, never had one, but is it not using IR communication similar to the "normal" CDTV remote?

In any case it is deffinetly working as a mouse / cd remote and the cd32 aux port is a combined keyboard & serial port soooo I seriously doubt you can connect the two.

Slightly off-topic, it would be cool if you could take (and publish) some pcb pictures, measurements and otherwise any info that might be useful in case someone wants to build a compatible unit.

It can apparently work as a remote/mouse only with the IR and with the cable (mini din) you can use the joysticks too.

I will scan the internals and measure it, so it can be replicated.

In the meantime I will be looking for a CDTV to test it on .. :)

ah - right - I guess it's this one:
"One port at the back of the CDTV is a provision for a wired joystick or mouse controller. This is not a standard Amiga joystick or mouse port. It is a form of serial port, which inputs a data stream much like the infrared remote puts out. There are a number of peripherals available for this port"

  • Pin 1 & 2: Gnd ( Ground)
  • Pin 3: PRDT (Mouse Data?)
  • Pin 4: +5V (+5V power)

I think this a unique thing on the CDTV - lets call it an experiment they did not replicate on the cd32 ;-)

I got a cdtv (somewhere) - let me know if you can't find one locally

Ah yes, that looks like someone's pet project - way different than the AUX in the CD32 it seems :)

Will give it a "outside" look this weekend, will write you if I have no success (I had a few CDTVs in the past, but I sold them, as I'm very restricted on space here).
