No direct download and a torrent for the 2x ~4Gb ISO? Pfffff.......

Just been playing with the install DVD on my iMac

and i like it :-)

I've just used it as a live dvd and its slow because of the disk access but i like it. i'll dig a hard drive later or install in on my Atom Pc

mike.

It runs after a 5 min live install and the graphics are garbled initially but this is an Ubuntu install so everything sorts itself out. Windows driver install is in the apps menu (wifi / sound etc i guess via a wrapper) my usb keyb and mouse are found ok but i have neither sound or wifi .. not unexpected really.

after my ten min play ...i like the look and feel of it, the Windows close in a nice effect and it feels snappy.

what do you want for free???

i actually like the look of this, what exactly do i need to run this? (could be a nice install on the L'amiga:)

you know Justin...i was thinking just the same thing :-)

Any windows box with regular hardware i expect - its Ubuntu after all.

Wifi / sound maybe an issue but all the other stuff is run of the mill.

It was a pretty fast download for a torrent 2 hours for both disc's..

:coffee:

it is nice its made for a duel atom anyhow so will work fine on your machine justin

now how do you share folders to add stuff guys

I still haven't done it but I will install this at the weekend and see how quick it is :-)

Last time i used ubuntu and that was a while ago i had to download samba to share anything. Maybe its not installed on this OS ?

I think this looks cool,

What the emulation like? Is it seamless, IE, click on an ADF file and it loads fullscreen already configured? Or do I have to muck about with it?

If it works out the box, then it'll make a nice emulation OS :)

You have to set up the emulators first , I.e rom files , paths and so on .. As for one click emulation ..

I dont know yet ...

Its all based on the newest Mint distro which is Ubuntu only more stable.

And without the drool-proofing.

Yup, looks very nice. I'm not overly enamoured with the blue theme, but it's nice to see a distro with all the power-user cool stuff enabled, and not hidden away for the safety of the poor hapless user!

(Note to Gnome/Ubuntu/Mainstream Distro folks (and Microsoft for that matter): Please stop hiding the razor blades - I'm bored with trying to shave with a butter knife.)

anyone having problems in installing this ?

I am trying to install it on my intel 2 quad and ti refuses to install. It partitions the hard drive and then fails.

Looks like when i google i am not the other one either.

it worked fine on my 1.6ghz duel atom ion itx with sata 2 ide hd

Downloading now. Pity it won't work on my old iMac (G4) but I'll try it on my MacBook :)

Cheers

John

Got it all working now on my Intel 2 quad and runs like a dream. I am thinking about leaving on my big PC and next year sorting out the casing so that its matches the OS. Love it.
