Closed Compaq Portable III Memory Simms

Looking for some simms for my 386 compaq portable III. I believe they are 40 pin simms, not standard 30 pin.

from what I have gleaned from around the internet, it seems to actually want an adapter board which allows it to take 6 (3x2) 30-pin simms.

the only reference i can find to 40-pin simms were specific to ACER 486 notebooks.

Are these the ones you are looking for ? (they came from a compaq portable but cant remember which)
The 30-pin is as a reference.

I came across this:

"Early versions of the Compaq Portable 386 were sold with the Compaq Portable III case and badges. A differing screen bezel stating "386/20" was the only externally visible change."

so i would assume he has an early Compaq Portable 386 which is still marked as a Portable III (originally a 286 system)

also found a picture of the inside of a Portable 386 ('upgraded' to a 486) which took those '42 pin simms' here: (they appear to be what he needs)

you are correct, i have the portable III before they relabled it the 386. i also have upgraded it to a 486 also and just need to add some more ram.
