Had a bit of a flash storm here and after a particularly loud and bright lightning strike which cause the circuit breaker to cut the electricity i've noticed my cordless phone (Philips) is no longer communicating with the base/dock.

The handset itself seems to be working fine but cannot find the base. When placed on the dock it won't charge either.

There are no burn smells on the dock or the ac adapter. I have tried to test the ac adapter using a multimeter but got no sign of life, but having said that the power tip of the ac adapter is small and it was not easy to try and test it.

Any idea what I can try ?

The AC adapter is 5volts, i've got loads of ac adapters at home but none that have the same power tip. Could leaving it unplugged reset the adapter?

EMP.... :(
Maybe the lightning was too close... Maybe your electric instalation is not too well grounded or shielded....
PS. Unpluging a device for about a minut costs nothing but I doubt it will give anything....

Nah, its dead. Tried a working AC adapter using the plug of the original one. Same polarity and voltage but no sign of life.

Even my ADSL filter/splitter is dead. The DSL port works but the phone line port doesn't
