Hi, can anyone tell me what kind of adhesive you use to fix a socket ontop of a custom chip like the one on the Indivision MK2 that goes over the Lisa chip? Or is it Alice i can't remember but does anyone know what if any adhesive should be used to secure the overlaid CPLD style socket.

Thanks for any advice.

Regards Stephen

You shouldn't need any glue ideally at least with the later Indivisions - the socket should latch onto the chip and make a pretty solid contact. The manufacturing tolerances are quite tight however for this to work, and some earlier boards certainly had problems staying on.

If yours does tend to pop loose, I would at most suggest using a bead of hot glue on one or several sides of the socket and the motherboard (i.e. install the Indivision, then run a bead of glue for reinforcement, don't apply glue under the socket or near the pins).

I would not use any type of permanent glue like superglue or epoxy. Hot glue is more forgiving as it can be easily undone with a drop of ethanol or isopropanol.

Thanks for the advice as I was thinking super glue but yeah I have a hot glue gun, I'll use that as my mk2 Indivision seats well but any knock or movement of the earth cable it pops off too easy.

So cheers!

Just as an FYI ... You don't need to fit the earth wire for the Indivision AGA Mk2cr, or Mk3 for that matter

It was only included in the box to satisfy the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Part 15 regulations that govern the emission of radio frequency energy from devices that are not intentionally designed for communication purposes. These regulations aim to prevent electromagnetic interference (EMI) and ensure safe operation of electronic devices in various environments.

As for the loose socket issue - There were a few early Mk2cr's that had this problem before Jens changed the design slightly. And the solution is as outlined above by @ajk - simply run a bead of hot glue along the outside of the socket where it meets the mainboard.

PLEASE don't use superglue or epoxy, it's the fastest way to ruin your A1200 should you ever need to remove the Indivision!
