Ok we have some progress.

Booting from the emergency disk of AmigaOS 3.9 it works perfectly. So something is corrupted in there, but I cannot find which one.

I had something like this happen with my A4000D. I worked on it for almost 2 days trying to fix it. In the end it turned out to be something with the way I tried to add AHI 6 to the OS. Afterwards the whole thing went bonkers. I ended up just reinstalling the OS and going from there. Worked fine by the way after that and I haven't had a problem since. But I am more careful now as I realize that I truly don't know much about these cool little machines.

If the problem is when booting from hard drive, then it seems that the issue is your OS on the hard drive, or something within the hard drive, that is causing problems.

If you are still running the same hardware (nothing removed or re-seated) and running bare bones OS from recovery disk gives good results, then the difference is your software isn't it.

If you want to do further testing, try another disk to boot from. Got Workbench 3.1? Got another harddrive that you can install and setup a fresh OS onto? Got anything other than your (problematic existing) hard drive?

I'll leave you on that train of thought. Keep us posted!

I'm thinking to reinstall AmigaOS 3.9 from scratch again. I really don't have enough time to investigate every file individually to find which one is corrupted.

Then Scout, Enforcer, Mungwall or Poolwatch. They can help you to nail the problematic executable which is messing with the stability of the system.

But from self-experience I'll investigate CPU-tied libraries (68040.library and a few others) and files in the WBStart drawer.

I'm more a mountain guy, you know? ;)

I have a swim pool and a 14 years newer-than-me wife. What more can I ask for?:D

I might have one, do you want it m8? It has 500 on it, but I will stick another "0" at then end for ya. :p
