Hi there. Is there anyone in the West Midlands area that could fix a CRT TV with an audio issue? I am based in West Bromwich Centre.

The CRT is 14 inch Alba/DVD combi. I am not sure of the model because back sticker ripped off by previous owner but I believe it is a TVD3450.

I am only getting sound out of one speaker when I connect up a console via RCA/Red Yellow White cables. Same if i attach a SCART adapter to them and use SCART port. When I attach external stereo speakers via headphone jack I only get sound out of one speaker, so I can’t use that to solve the issue. However when I play a DVD(when it chooses to work) I DO get sound of out both speakers, so it seems something deeper inside has broken. Someone on Reddit suggested the av input inside might have broken from cracked solder?

Would greatly appreciate if someone could help and of course be remunerated for their travel costs, time and expertise.

Kind regards

James

ah i see,i know i replied to your pm,yes ill have a look at it

ill send my address via pm now,so we can organise dropoff etc

tv was dropped off today around 4pm,just waiting for a part to arrive to fix this problem, might take a few days to arrive

something else was mention about this while chatting ill investigate that when i put it back together

this is now repaired, ill try to explain what i did

audio issue was a faulty 4052 multiplexer, basically a electronic analogue switch, all audio now works from every port on the tv including dvd which already worked
dvd player was just dried up grease on the rails, ive cleaned the lens and greased the rails,it seems to work fine

the added thing james mentioned was it didnt seem to switch via scart to rgb mode,i can confirm it does with anything i have here
so after talking to james ,i gave the option to fit a switch to force the tv into rgb mode through scart, which i have done and it works

erm,i think thats about it,ill let james know via pm etc,and he can pick it up at his leisure

i will show james that it works properly, when he comes to pick it up,i dont want him to just take my word for it

That's not good. You're meant to have feedback for each service you complete.
Slackers..

Hey. Sorry for delay, been ill most of last week and don't know how feedback system works. Very pleased with Roy's work on my TV. Sound quality is so good now both speakers are working properly. DVD player working consistently and can force RGB mode when before it would not work for me. Very glad I asked Roy for help.

edit: return feedback done,i think

Hey. Yeah I got it thanks. Thats a shame that people don't normally leave feedback, I only didnt because i was ill/a noob lol

like i said, people probably dont know there is a feedback system when they join

it seems easier to do now than it used to be,it was quite convoluted before the site was updated

Thats good that things improved then. I will open another thread for any subsequent repairs so i can leave you more feedback.
