Hi,

I'm hoping someone can put me out of my misery...

I recently bought a CSMKII 060 50mhz which I have tried to install today...

I read the manuals so installed the libraries first, then took the A4000D apart, removed the old cpu board and set the jumpers to 'INT' (again as per the manual..)

I then installed the CSMKII, put the miggy back together and that's when the fun started!

When booting, it starts going through the startup-sequence and then I get a reboot error telling me that C:Assign has failed... (sometimes it says C:LIST fails).

I booted with no startup-sequence and just under setpatch I put another line in to disable the datacache (CPU NODATACACHE)..

Miggy boots fine, but really no gain over my previous cpu board without the data cache...

So... I open up a shell and type in CPU DATACACHE... lo and behold, the fabric of the universe isn't torn asunder and the miggy is still running, I can even run DPAINT, DOPUS... but... I try to run Easynet which in turn tries to run AmiTCP and bang! Another reboot error telling me that AmiTCP has failed ( this error alternates with C:Mount has failed)

So... after reading a post by Zetro who appeared to have a similar problem, I download MMULibs, install it, then all hell breaks loose!

Now my miggy just hangs at a pretty CyberGraphx splash screen ( which I've never seen before so it takes me by surprise)...

I painstakingly reverse all the changes made by MMULibs and now I'm back at square one...

Before I revert back to the WarpEngine, can one of you kind souls please offer some suggestions ?

The setup is:

A4000D
DENEB
Cybervision 64 4mb
Buddha
Indivision 4000
CSMKII 060 50mhz 128mb

Kick 3.1 & WB 3.1 PFS3

Cheers,
Marc

Hi Marc,

I used to have A CSMKII too, but I didn't have problem when installing it.

Also is good to delete any files that are used for the WarpEngine accelerator (if there are any).

Try to unplug your hard disk and try to boot from the WorkBench disk to see what happens.

Are you using a SCSI HD on this unit? The same HD used connected to the WE and just moved to the CS?

Hi,

@rkauer,

Nope, using an ide drive running off the Buddha...

@Almaniac,

I have the full 128mb on the board, I have removed them one at a time with the same result.. oddly enough though when there is no ram present at all on the board, the miggy won't boot..

@Phantom,

I've booted off the WB3.1 floppy and boots fine but after unplugging the HD I can't test any other programs :)

@BuzzFuzz,

Have removed all traces of the WE and have downloaded various files from the link, all seem to have the same problem...

Thanks all for your replies and help so far, this is one frustrating hobby!

Cheers,
Marc

*******EDIT *****

I'm going to try to do a fresh install of WB 3.1 and see how I go with it, can't think of anything else at the moment....

The pain continues ;)

Zetr0 suggested I prepare a fresh install of 3.9 with Winuae + mmulibs.

Luckily I had bought an os3.9 disc a while back so I went ahead and made a fresh install in Winuae that I then transferred to a CF card.

I stripped down the miggy so that there was nothing else on the daughter board and only one stick of 32mb ram on the CSMK II

Booted up the CF card on the miggy and same problem occurred so I placed MUForce and MuGuardianAngel in the startup-sequence following directly after Setpatch and all appeared ok, no more crashes when running showconfig in the cli, caches on...

Formatted the HD and copied the install from the CF accross to it..

A few problems now though... Menu Items in WorkBench do not work... eg select an icon & choose Icons->Information from the menus and nothing happens, same if I select Execute from the Menu... odd

Formatted the miggy's HD again and copied accross the CF install, still same deal..

I thought I'd get back to that problem later so I tried to re-install the Cybervision 64 card...
Install goes fine but after reboot the second time I clink on any icon the machine freezes...
Re-formatted the HD, copied the install accross from the CF again then tried an install of P96... same problem..

I've got a new Buster 11 and a daughterboard on the way I'm going to waith unitl I install them before I do anything else or I may just pull the last few remaining hairs out of my head!

I'm at wits end with this machine now..

UPDATE

I've installed both the new buster and daughterboard but sadly the problem persists...

I'm not sure what else to try, Zetro had an almost identical problem but I've followed his instructions and still no go so I'm not sure what else to do now other than sell the CSMKII :(

Are you sure you are using the correct 060 libs? I had these problems trying to use Apollo libs with a Blizzard 1260 (I was setting up a HDD for someone with an Apollo)

Hi.

Just to comment.......

I don't know about Budda... But ...... try

- Fresh 3.1 & correct 060 libs
- IDE Cables max 45 cms
- Put HDD or CF as Single Master
- Test without the Budda & DENEB installed

If uses Budda... work at max PIO3 (if configurable)

If uses DENEB, take a look inside the flash ROM of DENEB. Maybe you have the problem here..... By default DENEB comes with unnecessary libs inside the FlashROM.

Do you have other A4000 or Amiga with Zorro to configure properly DENEB?.......

Hi guys,

I thought I'd tried all the libraries from the aik.phase5 site and amiga.resource but it can't hurt to go through and try them one by one just in case I missed one... I'll give that a go tonight when I get home from work...
If somebody has the CSMKII '060 up and running on an A4000D maybe I could get them to email the 68060 libraries to me, that at least would rule out the libraries as the issue...

I've tried it without the Deneb and Buddha, still same problems, I've also tried a fresh install of 3.1 and 3.9... ssame deal :(

Do you have the chance to swap the CPU?

I haven't got another 68060 CPU but It was working fine with my Warpengine 040...

Maybe there is someone in Sydney with an A4000 who could test it for you, see if the problem is identical.
If so, the card has either bad memory or the cpu is fried a bit.

Hi Marc

I have one CS MK-II 060/50 running fine on my A4000D, PM your e-mail and I will send the libraries to you.

Best wishes

Hello Marcb =)

unfortunately you need to use the Cyberstorm Libs (click here for download index *2nd in the list is what you want*) and put these in the LIBS: directory - delete the existing ones on the harddrive first - please make sure that you delete any 68040.library on your harddisk before installing / copying these to it.

this should then work =)

if you are still having trouble - hit me up on PM I am sure I can help out.

Hi

I use the same libraries from the Zetr0's post. Download & try with a fresh install.

Ah! Try with a "pure" 3.1 ROM (not 3.5)

Best wishes

The first archive that Zetr0 put up here as the list, are the librariers that work for me also, and I have a Cyberstorm 060/PPC 50/200 with 128MB.

Quite probably a thread-necro, but I had to answer. The jumpers need to be set to EXT for accelerators over 030 (ie 040, 060 and PPC).

This is incorrect, the CSMKII needs to be set to INT as per the manual and if I remember correctly the Apollo 4040/60 also need to be set to INT

Hmm. It must be different for the mkII and mkIII then, because the mkIII needs EXT. Apologies if I am incorrect, I've been out of the Amiga loop for a while and am re-learning some bits n bobs.

(MK-III) "For the operation of the CYBERSTORM MKIII they have to be placed in position "EXT" or "E,". Depending on whether you are using an AMIGA 4000/030 or AMIGA 4000/040, these jumpers by default are set to on position "EXT" or position "INT". Please take note that the operation of the CYBERSTORM MKIII is not possible if the jumpers are set to position "INT", and the computer will not boot in such a wrong position."

So yep, I retract my earlier statement!
